Page 9: Best Friends for Never
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007Parker’s crazy! The color version will go up later. EDIT: Color up!

Pet owners love their pets and want the best dog food for them at the lowest price! You can compare dog food brands and dog food prices on the web? And while you’re at it, why not look at dog food bowls too.

March 14th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
HAHA! Something no one ever guessed! xD I love your mind. It works like mine does, only better. And probably in technicolor.
March 14th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
… O.o Aaaand another random thing here to say, ‘WTF? I got the first comment? What’s wrong with you people?’ xD
March 14th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
laaaaaaawl.
Parker, you’re a genius.
Love it.
March 14th, 2007 at 5:07 pm
so then whats “today”?
March 14th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
I think today is Sunday, but I haven’t decided officially — might never be mentioned. It’s clearly been at least 48 hours, though (otherwise she would have said “yesterday”), and that’s all that matters.
March 14th, 2007 at 5:57 pm
genius
I wonder what the sign says.. dun dun dun. perhaps it is the sign that Guy is holding in the opening photo for the site…
March 14th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Exactly what day of the week is it supposed to be. The “THURSDAY!?” is hilarious already, but the more extreme it is, the better. At least in my opinion.
Parker rules!
March 14th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
I actually answered that in my comment above!
March 14th, 2007 at 7:05 pm
Heh, I can’t wait to see how Parker and Guy actually met/became friends. They don’t seem to share many common interests.
March 14th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
They’re both outsiders, didn’t have any friends, so they only had each other.
March 14th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Oh, ok. I must’ve missed that.
I love Parker already. She’s crazy!
March 14th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
On the cover page, Guy is holding the sign that he just got handed, but Stasia is wearing the outfit she just changed out of - when can that moment happen?
March 14th, 2007 at 8:13 pm
Two possible answers:
#1: That moment never happens, since plans changed on what outfit she’d be wearing at the time.
#2: That moment happened earlier maybe. All kinds of things can happen during a concert and maybe Guy was holding the sign for some reason at some point. He’s not holding it up high or anything in the cover image. Maybe Parker asked him to briefly hold it while she needed her hands for something else, who knows.
March 14th, 2007 at 11:15 pm
Hahaha ! So funny !
I love Parker!
And the fifth panel is great
March 15th, 2007 at 1:40 am
Ahahahaha XD
Glad to see Parker is not fan-freakish enough to just pee her pants or get a bottle or something…
Somehow she looks really really cute in the first panel
March 15th, 2007 at 4:03 am
lol…. I’m pretty content with knowing that I wasn’t one of those in the way of Parker heading to the toilet o.O like, when a girl says “Thursday” you don’t need to know current day, now do you?.. duh..
Awesome comic! (Even tho it’s new and is nowhere near 100 eps yet) =P
March 15th, 2007 at 4:04 am
btw, now it’s 1pm here. What fucked-up timezone are you guys in? o.O
March 15th, 2007 at 5:13 am
man.. that’s crazy.. just a few days ago I’ve been to a rock show, and it was so crowded, it took me 15 minutes to pee and come back! and it was a tiny place!
March 15th, 2007 at 6:10 am
What sex is Parker actualy…?
March 15th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
Parker’s a girl, if I’m not mistaken, & she has a raging girl-crush on Stasia. That doesn’t make her a lesbian, though it doesn’t count her out either. It’s just….kinda hot. Oh, & this comic/movie script is awesome so far.
March 15th, 2007 at 12:52 pm
“Glad to see Parker is not fan-freakish enough to just pee her pants . . .”
I suggest reading the next page!
“What fucked-up timezone are you guys in?”
I’m in the Pacific timezone (Los Angeles).
“What sex is Parker actualy…?”
Parker is all girl.
“Oh, & this comic/movie script is awesome so far.”
Thanks, Cat, and your analysis of Parker is correct.
March 15th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
What happened to the colour version? Or am I being impatient?
I love this comic but I found it kinda weird that Parker would be holding a ‘MARRY ME’ sign- I dunno, they just seem to fit in better with fangirls at a boyband concert. But that’s just my two cents- I haven’t been to hardly any concerts so I don’t actually have any idea what banners people hold
Oh, and +EV is great too, Bobby. Really funny.
March 15th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Eisu completed the color version several hours ago, and it looks great, but my brother actually does all the web site stuff for me and he’s unavailable right now. It’ll go up at some point in the next few hours.
“I love this comic but I found it kinda weird that Parker would be holding a ‘MARRY ME’ sign- I dunno, they just seem to fit in better with fangirls at a boyband concert.”
Parker’s crazy, remember? Also, I’ve only been to two concerts in my life, so I don’t know much about that scene either.
“Oh, and +EV is great too, Bobby. Really funny.”
Thanks.
March 15th, 2007 at 1:27 pm
Yay! I’m on UK time so I didn’t realise there was still ages left in the day for it to go up. Oops should have remembered that about Parker.
March 15th, 2007 at 3:16 pm
oh nonononono. don’t wanna see any wee next page!
March 15th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
“HAHA! Something no one ever guessed!” I guessed it!!!!
u can check…
March 15th, 2007 at 6:43 pm
“Hahaha! I picked up on somethin! =^.^= Lol. I feel smart. Hey! (im probably wrong) but mayb Guy is holdin the “marry me” sign for Parker … or doesnt know wat it says for some reason.. then he gets picked to marry her and he’s like O.O …waaaa? yes.. tht is exactly wat he’ll say…”
Lilac’s guess, the closest guess there is, she’s almost correct except that Guy does know what the sign says… which is why he is reluctant to hold it in this one
March 15th, 2007 at 6:44 pm
(but still, good job Lilac ^o^ Couldn’t say this on the last page for fear of letting out spoilers)
March 15th, 2007 at 7:09 pm
Lilac might just be the #1 fan. ThatOneChick gives her a run for her money, though.
March 15th, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Hee. Do I really? Well. I try.
March 15th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Erk. This place really doesn’t like me. It keeps eating my posts.
‘It was probably a fake!’ Way to be paranoid, Parker. Loving her more and more!
March 15th, 2007 at 11:10 pm
you do know the normal joe marrys famous person been done many times before dont you
March 15th, 2007 at 11:35 pm
For someone who reads every page of a comic he hates, I’m surprised you don’t read every comment as well, where I’ve made it clear that I do know that, yes. Did you know that there have been zombie stories before too? I guess “Last Blood” is pointless, then. Please tell me what your favorite comics are, j, and why you keep reading and commenting about a comic you hate.
March 16th, 2007 at 12:33 am
Oh god… Parker. That potty face is so god damn cute. It seriously screams ‘I gotta go POTTTYYYY!!!’ If this comic is ever going to have sigs or display pics for forums and mesengers, I here by submit the demand that there be one of Parker with that ace that says the above statement: ‘I gotta go potty!’
March 16th, 2007 at 3:18 am
Yanno what…?
Parker kinda reminds me of my friend Kim and her obsession with those chicks from Hanson (Yeah, if she read that, I would be getting my ass kicked), and that would make me Guy. ‘cuz for her birthday I took her to Pennsylvania for a Hanson concert. *Sigh* Though, I would like to say that, thankfully, none of the Hanson members wanted to marry me.
March 16th, 2007 at 3:48 am
Giggle* This rocks! Though I do have to ask what day was the concert on? Cause man oh man how long has she actually been holing on? (Yes my mind is weird)
March 16th, 2007 at 4:34 am
Dude, Parker’s a dead woman walking. Doesn’t anybody remember the sad but true story of Tycho Brahe’s unfortunate end?
March 16th, 2007 at 5:21 am
Wheee color! I seriously thought the comic would be b/w from now on… it would be awesome without colors too, but at least the concert should still be colored because it adds to the atmosphere!
Everything has already been done at some point, the trick is to combine elements that haven’t been combined until now, or to present them in a unique, appealing manner. I don’t care if it’s the umpteenth version of “unlikely marriage” as long as the art is good and the story is intriguing!
March 16th, 2007 at 11:27 am
… Are there really that many things (comics movies books etc) out there about superstars (celebrities, what have you) marrying non-celebs? If so, Geez, I really need to start paying attention… Anywho. It’s original enough for me, and a lot of stories don’t have their characters presented in a realistic fashion, so this is awesome for me. Besides, how many times do you see the stalker/fanatics (-coughhackPARKERsneezenudge-) presented in such a positive light? ^.^
March 16th, 2007 at 12:17 pm
batgirl: Saturday or Sunday! Nothing official, though. All that matters is that it’s clearly been a LONG time.
And about originality in comics: I sure hope j is making the same complaints to all the authors of gaming comics, most of which have the exact same setup basically.
March 16th, 2007 at 1:05 pm
“Lilac might just be the #1 fan.” O.O …waaaa?
March 16th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
lol i love the expressions of all the people Parker’s pushin out of the way in the last panel
March 16th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Yeah, I know of the astronomer’s horrid fate. Thus far all the characters rule! Too bad it’s only going to be about 80 pages long. I wish it was much longer. More! More! I’m not often a fan of this sort of thing, but this is one of the few that works for me.
March 16th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
…movie-wise that is. I often read webcomics with a lot of romance. (Eisu’s NPP is one coming to mind at the moment.)
March 16th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
Oh yeah, is Parker kicking that guy in the face in that last panel or just climbing over him?
March 16th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
It’s my opinion that she’s kicking him hard in the face — maybe by “accident,” though.
Also, there could be sequels, especially if the comic is popular, but there might have to be a new artist for those (and might have to add a co-writer), because Eisu is a busy man and I’m hoping he’ll work on another graphic novel for me after MM is done.
March 16th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Fortuneteller- I see a crazy fangirl in your close future….
March 16th, 2007 at 9:27 pm
Moments like this are why all crazy stalker girls need astronaut diapers.
March 16th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
The best part is that, even if the autograph was probably a fake, Parker bought it anyway.
March 17th, 2007 at 2:11 pm
I like the comic so far (its cute, and I have an idea where its going), but my confusion lies in one area: why the fuck are there so many guys at the last panel? I’m assuming Stasia in basically Britney Spears, or any other teen pop girl singer. So why oh why are there so many guys. I for one would never go to a Britney Spears show. I could see Guy being there since Parker is his friend and she obviously dragged him along (same reason I’ve seen just about every chick flick of the last 5 years). But from what I’ve seen of videos on music channels of Britney concerts, its all 12-17 year old girls. sooooooo ye. Not too mention one or two of the dudes look like they belong at a Smashing Pumpkins concert not Stasia. But I’m not bitching. Just saying.
March 17th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
“Not too mention one or two of the dudes look like they belong at a Smashing Pumpkins concert not Stasia.”
Which ones? I’m not sure how that impression could be gotten. Stasia has more universal appeal than Britney Spears, and she also has a ton of gay fans, I’m sure, and there could also be several other guys like Guy who aren’t fans of Stasia but are there anyway for various reasons. Also, we don’t see hardly any of the background people clearly, so it doesn’t make much sense for you to act like there’s a million guys.
March 17th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
The one dude with the shaved head and the other dude with the wallet chain.
I’ve counted 8 visible guys, and 4 visible girls (not including Guy or Parker). Seems to be a 2:1 thing going on. As far as gay people go, I don’t know a sinlge gay person that likes teen girl pop (and I know alot of different kinds of gay people). But ye like we both said I’m sure some of’em could’ve just been dragged there.
Anyways I wasn’t trying to make a federal case out of it, I just thought it was funny Eisu chose to draw more dudes that dudettes.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
.. that timezone LA.. would that be gmt-5 or something?.. never been to america, don’t plan on going there. Not even if someone payed me. I think.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
“The one dude with the shaved head and the other dude with the wallet chain.”
Those could both be girls. I only count two DEFINITE guys, and those are the guys to the left of Parker in Panel 4, one of whom we also see in Panel 1. I see no possible way to count “8 visible guys.”
“As far as gay people go, I don’t know a sinlge gay person that likes teen girl pop (and I know alot of different kinds of gay people).”
Stasia’s 24 and we haven’t heard much of her music at all. In a search for “Jessica Simpson” and “gay fans” and I just found this interview where the guy says, “You have a lot of gay fans.”
http://www.moviehole.net/news/6048.html
There are similar findings for other pop stars like that, but none of that really matters, because we don’t know nearly enough about Stasia to conclude that she wouldn’t have certain types of fans, and anyone who has millions of fans will have fans from all walks of life. Stasia is the best selling artist in the world in this story.
“Anyways I wasn’t trying to make a federal case out of it . . .”
Oh, I know — no big deal.
“that timezone LA.. would that be gmt-5 or something?”
GMT-8.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
The definite is 7 guys and 6 girls in there… in the first panel, there’s 2 girls behind Parker and Guy, in the 4th panel, there’s two girls behind Guy and another behind the “it was probably fake” dialogue balloon and in the last panel, the shocked person above the head pushed guy (non-shaved) is a girl. The little set of hair we see in the 4th panel between Guy and Parker is a non-decided… up to you if it’s a guy or a girl.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
Also, who’s to say someone who shaves his head can’t be a fan of teen pop idols or someone who wears a pocket chain… just cos they don’t look it don’t mean they ain’t it…
March 17th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
lol if the artist says so, than I guss it must be true. Anyway, good comic ya’ll.
March 17th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
“lol if the artist says so, than I guss it must be true.”
Yes, and his numbers were different than yours, with less guys and more girls. I still don’t understand where there’s even seven possible guys, though. I’m counting five at the most in this page. In the first panel we see one guy, the same guy who we see in Panel 4, along with one other guy, so now that’s two total guys, then in the last panel the bald person is apparently a guy and Eisu just confirmed that Parker is pushing a guy in the head on the right there, and that the person in the background is a girl. I assume Eisu’s saying the person with the chain is a guy, but girls could certainly dress like that as well. So anyway, that’s still a maximum of five, it seems to me. Doesn’t matter, though, obviously.
March 17th, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Oh, I counted the first panel guy and the 4th panel guy as different persons (the nose is different anyway) and the spiky haired guy in the last panel… well, truthfully, I just added a spiky hair, I didn’t really think about whether it’s a guy or a girl, so the spiky haired guy can be a girl too… reader’s interpretation…
March 17th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
… Really. What the hey? I mean, god, Britney KILLS me, but I still went to a concert of hers. Maybe they got free tickets. Maybe Eisu just wasn’t counting the ratio. Who cares? It’s a good comic, and you’re probably never gonna see the background people anywhere but the concert(s), unless they’re the recyclable type that get used a lot in backgrounds of all different sorts.
And dude. Wallet chain? Shaved head? Who cares? My uncle has a wallet chain, quite a few actually, and his head as bald as an old man’s (which he’s not), and he’s a die-hard Britney (and Jessica) fan. Straight as hey, too. Aaand that ends my bratty rant for the day. ^.^
March 17th, 2007 at 7:52 pm
What kind of pop is she? Is it a more “rock” type, or just all electronic bubblegum?
March 17th, 2007 at 7:53 pm
“Thursday?”
“THURSDAY?”
Awesome. XD I
March 17th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Heyyyyyy, it ate some of my post. o0 To resume:
March 17th, 2007 at 7:55 pm
…IT DID IT AGAIN. Seriously, this time!
*heart made from a less than sign and a 3* Parker, even though she’s a little crazy and stalker-ish.
I think it just doesn’t lie the less than character…
March 17th, 2007 at 7:56 pm
*like
March 17th, 2007 at 8:16 pm
“What kind of pop is she? Is it a more ‘rock’ type, or just all electronic bubblegum?”
She’s probably tried several different styles through the years. Maybe she’s a Madonna type.
March 18th, 2007 at 1:01 am
hmmm…..let’s test the heart that kept getting cut off…
March 18th, 2007 at 1:02 am
….
March 18th, 2007 at 1:03 am
ok. the heart doesn’t work. >_
March 18th, 2007 at 1:04 am
oh….no apparantly it’s just the less than sign (see above attempted face thingy)
March 18th, 2007 at 11:29 am
Aw. That’s my favorite sign to make, too. T.T
March 18th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
“Yes, and his numbers were different than yours”
I was conceding, i.e. saying I was wrong. You’re taking this way too personally man.
I like you’re comic, I made a joke comment (in which I specifically stated I wasn’t actually complaining), and admitted I was mistaken when the artist corrected me; this should be over with. Sorry I obviously pissed you off or something, but chill (for the third or fourth time).
March 18th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
“You’re taking this way too personally man.”
There’s no reason to assume that, just like there’s no reason to assume that the audience is full of guys or that it would be insane if it was. No reason to tell me to chill. Perfectly calm. Also, who cares if you specifically say you’re not complaining when you also say, “Why the fuck are there so many guys at the last panel?” Not only does the complaint make no sense, but you’re using bad language for no reason in the comments section for a comic whose target audience is probably those same 12-17 year old girls who you say would be Stasia’s only fans. The appropriate response would be to thank me for answering your question in such detail instead of deleting it for not making any sense and for trying to make it sound like the comic made a huge error (”why the fuck”) when clearly no error was made while you give crazy wrong numbers to try to back up your pointless claim.
(And now you’ll tell me to chill out again, I’m sure. Wonderful.)
March 20th, 2007 at 9:20 pm
hahaha, you guys are still talking about the guys and girls stuff? just forget it already and enjoy the comic, duuudes ~_~
March 24th, 2007 at 3:38 am
ThatOneGirl said: “Are there really that many things (comics movies books etc) out there about superstars (celebrities, what have you) marrying non-celebs?”
That’s pretty much the plot of Jane Austin’s _Pride and Prejudice_, when you think about it (daughter of end of line very minor nobility marries local fabulously rich nobleman).

i love marry me!!keep up the good work..
