I have waited all day, refreshing the page since 10 am for this comic. I was not disappointed, but I need more! It’s going to be a long couple days til monday. =(
I really can’t wait to see how these characters are developed, and how people could actually handle the completely insane situation they’re in. They seem rather calm. XD
March 30th, 2007 at 9:18 pm
Nice, Stasia, nice. How like her to not know which state she got married in. xD
Fantastic job with the art too, I especially love Guy in the first panel.
I’m curious, does Stasia even know her new hubby’s name?

Nope!
March 30th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
Hey, I’m in Tulsa, Oklahoma right now! I live there.
Stasia wouldn’t be here. We don’t have a venue that would support an act of her size. The Cain’s ballroom, while awesome in its eclectic coolness, would explode.
Love the comic, guys. Very charming.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
I don’t know, it looks like Guy may have been in the middle of freaking out, or just checking to see how he looks, when she walked in and looks a little uneasy in all the panels. The last one looks particularly acquired for them both. This is a pretty outrages situation they are both in and they seem to be trying to handle it as calmly as possible.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:46 pm
“We don’t have a venue that would support an act of her size.”
Ah, interesting. It is an outdoor concert, though, so maybe they found some sort of field and just put up a big stage and dressing rooms and such. I looked up “concerts in Tulsa” and found tons of results, so I figured it would be at least plausible. Wanted to go with a big enough city that it would be recognized by a good number of people, but didn’t want to use Oklahoma City. Glad you’re liking the comic!
And yeah, Lenerd, Guy was supposed to be fixing up his hair, seeing how he looks.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
Wow, I kinda thought she would be able to hold her cool just a little bit longer
But her face when she says “I am?” is outstanding
March 30th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
woo! new comic!
This is currentyl among my favourite webcomics, I look forward to each update with a great deal of zeal.
I cannot wait to see how this goes.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:03 pm
Awe. Guy is so cute.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:37 pm
Guy seems like a fairly rational person, which makes me wonder why on earth he said, “I do.”
I mean, yeah Stasia is hot, but still, if some hot chick just came up to you and asked you to marry her, any guy in his right mind would still be all, “WTF?”
I know if some hot pop star, who’s rumored to be a bit nutty, out of the blue proposed to me, I’d probably say no.
Maybe it was the pressure of being asked in front of that crowd?
March 30th, 2007 at 11:48 pm
READ THIS for the answer.
EDIT: For some reason the link doesn’t seem to go to the exact right comment, but just scroll down a little until you see my comment that starts with, “And why the hell does Guy do NOTHING against whatever is happening on stage?”
March 31st, 2007 at 2:13 am
Gah, now my stupid question even is linked .> XD
Guy’s totally winning my heart right now, what with the mirror-looking and clinging to his shirt in panel 3 (if I see it right xP).
Marry Me is the only thing that makes me want my weekend to end! I can’t wait for monday!
March 31st, 2007 at 4:35 am
“Awe. Guy is so cute.” This caused something to pop into my head. I know there have been discussions about who would play Stasia in the movie, but who would play Guy? I mean he is a pretty imoprtant character and if you think about it, so is Parker. And Lets not forget about the importance of Gary either!
March 31st, 2007 at 5:17 am
Namsab: COOKIES FOR YOU!!! Yay, you saw the shirt clinging thing! You can’t believe how happy I am that people do see it.
March 31st, 2007 at 5:18 am
(The drawing in the panel had to be small to show the distance between Guy and Stasia so I was kinda scared that the shirt clinging thing might not be as noticable, but if one person saw it, that’s good enough for me ^o^)
March 31st, 2007 at 8:01 am
Aw, look at poor Gaia. XD
March 31st, 2007 at 8:02 am
… I meant “Poor Guy.” Sorry, my cousin was talking while I was typing and… yeah. XD Anyway, yes, poor Guy. He looks so nervous.
March 31st, 2007 at 9:18 am
The “I am?” is one of the funniest things so far along with Stasia finding out who Gary is, Parker kicking people in the face/”Thursday”, and “Don’t drop me/her Gary”.
I just love this so far, keep up the good work!
March 31st, 2007 at 11:44 am
Eisu, your art is, as always, awesome! Bobby, this comic, though still in its early stages, is a big laugh, and I can’t wait to read more!
Looking at the last panel, you can just see the awkwardness and tension, especially on Guy’s face. I can’t wait to see Parker’s reaction once she meets Guy face to face. No good can come of any of this except a laugh riot.
Great work, guys. Keep it up!
March 31st, 2007 at 12:39 pm
The last four pannels are perfectly arranged, giving the reader a perfect contrast between Stasia’s friendly smile and her startled “I am?” expression - awesome layout! Most of the pannels alternated points of view, which not only kept my attention, but definitely looks like the beginings of a movie.
As many comments past have said, the characters are rich and delightful, the colors delicious, and the story winds you around it’s little finger. Thank you Bobby and Eisu, for sharing your talents with us!
March 31st, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Thanks, Michelle. Here’s the script for the last four panels, in case you were interested –
————
Panel 5: Close up of Stasia. She’s smiling, trying to criticize him in a nice way and not cause a fight or anything. Maybe kind of a half smile with her head tilted down and to the side slightly (her eyes looking up at him), like “See what I mean, Guy?”
STASIA: CAN I SAY SOMETHING REAL QUICK? YOU PROBABLY SHOULDN’T CALL ME MA’AM, SINCE, YOU KNOW, I’M ONLY 24 . . . AND WE’RE MARRIED.
Panel 6: Back to both of them, but maybe this could be a shot from over Stasia’s shoulder (Stasia on the left), with the panel focusing on Guy. Your choice, though. Guy looks slightly confused and also a little sorry for Stasia, kind of talking to her like she’s a baby.
STASIA: SO, OKLAHOMA, HUH? WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO ALABAMA?
GUY: I, UH . . . I’M SORRY, BUT DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU’RE IN OKLAHOMA RIGHT NOW? TULSA?
Panel 7: Close up of Stasia, looking like she’s in disbelief.
STASIA: I AM?
Panel 8: Back to seeing them both, standing fairly close now, and Stasia has both hands on her cheeks, just shocked at her own stupidity. Her expression is just a bit stunned. She shouldn’t look like she’s yelling or angry — just stunned/shocked. Guy looks a bit uncomfortable again, maybe pulling slightly at the collar of his own shirt (?) and maybe turning his head away from her, looking at her out of the corner of his eye.
STASIA: THAT’S RIGHT — ALABAMA WAS LAST NIGHT. JESUS, I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHICH STATE I JUST GOT MARRIED IN!

Eisu’s art is perfection for this.
Is that still the adapted graduation robe or is it another sort of coat or something?
March 31st, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Still the graduation robe.
March 31st, 2007 at 6:35 pm
I love this comic. It’s just so funny and well-done in every way. The greatest part for me is definitely the range of expressions. As an artist who tends to draw comics for her friends, I’m very used to analyzing people’s expressions before attempting to imitate them in my own art. While I read this, I start naturally picking out and labeling the different emotions that people are showing. It’s amazing to see how well Eisu portrays it all, like the shirt-clutching and the tugging at the collar, and it gives me great hope for myself. The writing just makes me laugh, too. Keep up the good work! =)

Yehaw, I get cookies *lessthanthree*
The sketch is great… I wish I could draw people with just a few strokes in the background and still have them look like people XD
*votes every day now*

how come Guy calls her ma’m anyway? i got the impression from his appearance that he’s older than her, but does this mean Stasia’s the older of the two?
April 1st, 2007 at 11:46 am
Hilary: I don’t think calling her “ma’am” says much about his own age, if anything. He’s just a polite fellow and doesn’t know her well and says “yes, ma’am” and “no, ma’am” sometimes when he’s nervous and talking to a lady. I think they’re about the same age. He might be a little younger. I’ll probably have his specific age be revealed in the book eventually, but for now he’s anywhere from 22-26.
April 1st, 2007 at 1:51 pm
Very, very funny. I chanced on this by accident, its great.
April 1st, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Looks like Stasia isn’t the only one who’s nervous. Guy’s about to twist his own shirt off…
I love the last image where he’s tugging at his shirt and looking nervous because his bride doesn’t even have her states down.
April 1st, 2007 at 5:09 pm
Tulsa! I live there! … here!
There’s no huge stadiums here. :/ It’d be better suited if this was Oklahoma City, at the Ford Center. Other wise, you’re kinda screwing up continuity of our fair city.
Kidding! We can pretend Cain’s Ballroom is much, much larger. XD
April 1st, 2007 at 5:11 pm
Cut off my post.
Or Boston’s. Which is a bar. I think.
Yup. OKC. Place to be. I went and saw Evanescence a few weeks ago there.
April 1st, 2007 at 5:16 pm
Cool, cool, but hey, it’s an outdoor concert! Still probably isn’t an outdoor venue that would accommodate Stasia either, but there’s at least the chance it could be constructed maybe, I guess. I would have went with OKC, but didn’t want to say “Oklahoma” and “Oklahoma City,” and also I figured Stasia wouldn’t be quite stupid enough to not realize she was in Oklahoma when she was also in OKLAHOMA CITY ITSELF. But oh well.
CLICK HERE to read a review of an outdoor concert in Tulsa where apparently at least 6,000 people showed up.
April 1st, 2007 at 7:14 pm
That’s what I thought it was.
I’m hoping this has a happy ending.
April 2nd, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Gah. I do not read all other comments.
BOO ON KATE. Sorry.
Well, we have the fairgrounds. Hm. That’s where the radio stations do their little festival things with all of their bands.
I AM CAUSING YOU GRIEF AND I’M SORRY.
April 2nd, 2007 at 3:58 pm
Hey, no, no grief at all, it’s fine! It’s cool that you live in Tulsa and I appreciate the extra info about the city, and let me know if you see Guy or Parker around, since they live there!
April 10th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
very nice art, congratulations!
May 22nd, 2007 at 6:00 am
Okay, I have to comment…. This page, instead of amusing me, actually made me laugh ;D I think it’s because I’m not logged into the phones at work, but still!! A Laugh!! (oh, and Parker PeePants made me laugh this morning too
)
May 22nd, 2007 at 6:06 am
Lol.. I’m thinking the shirt just doesn’t fit Guy all that well.. what with the shirt clinging at the top (panel 3), and the neck pulling at the bottom (Panel 8)…. poor guy!
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 am
I hate popstars really (evil Hannah Montanna) but this one seems okay.
March 18th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Sadly, that last sentence is just something we would expect Stasia to say…
April 25th, 2008 at 10:04 am
“Sadly, that last sentence is just something we would expect Stasia to say…”
It’s the end of a long tour, and she’s “burned out”. Plus, she had that “do something crazy” look on her face before she went back out to do her encore…and what an encore.
June 22nd, 2008 at 7:30 am
What’s so bad about Alabama? I’m from bama.
August 4th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
im glad hes from oklahoma.. i do agree, that there is no venue big enough for a star like stasia i lived in tulsa for 14 years before i got staationed in san diego. i just talked to bobby for about 20 minutes… and he answered every question i had. thanks for putting a light on tulsa and keep up the good owkr and thank you for your time and patience with my questions.
