Denny is the best.

  1. Yumehayla Says:

Like, omg xDDD..Guy looks so focused! And Denny rules xD
And what, no comments yet? I am quick or am I quick xDDD?

  2. Winter Says:

    Haha! I’m first (I think)!

It takes a true geek to read while navigating a crowd. On the other hand, I wonder what’s in that autobiography to make it so interesting. Her ‘nice girl’ image rules out some of the things that can be assumed to drive sales of, say, Anna Nicole’s autobiography.

  3. Murray Says:

    awesome work, as always!!!!

    I want a Denny xD

  4. Lord archer Says:

I think you have been watching prince bride.

“HEY EVERY BODY MOVE!!!!” *crowd clears*
    “thank you Fezzik” Inigo Montoya

  5. Tryster Says:

Yowza, i want someone like Denny working for me xD I am amused by his “y’all”
BTW, Is Guy’s name like the French name Guy where it’s pronounced ‘Gee’? I’ve been wondering about this, dunno if anyone will be able to answer….

  6. Rollo Says:

“GUY! OVER HERE!” - “huh.” Nerds rule! Beat that, Fonzie! Not even Jake and Elroy were THAT CEWL!!! *wiping tears away from laughter*

  7. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Is Guy’s name like the French name Guy where it’s pronounced ‘Gee’?”

It’s not, no. Just the regular Guy, like “Look at that guy over there!” Like Guy Ritchie.

  8. Skyserpent Says:

    heheh… I love Denny’s little hat…

  9. DeniCamuiTsukino Says:

zomg I lurve Parker’s expression in the last panel xD;; haha, awesome

    @Winter
This may make me seem like a geek, but I read and walk through all sorts of stuff all the time xD;; I always seem to know where I’m going whether I’m looking or not..

  10. Nothing Says:

I find Denny hilarious and I do not know why.
    Great job on the page.

  11. Miroku2235 Says:

I love the expression on the very right guy in the third panel.

  12. Miroku2235 Says:

woops, left. I can’t make sense of my directions it seems

  13. KittyDove Says:

I love how Stasia hasn’t got a clue who works for her!
“we’re gonna need Denny.” “Who?” and yeah, Guy is a total geek but that’s what makes him so fantastic. people can be so oblivious while reading!

  14. Andrewk Says:

Readin’ his wife’s biography like it’s a Harry Potter novel. Haha!

  15. Alecks Says:

LOL at the lawyer’s opening line of useless idiocy.

    And Denny’s reappearance.

And I just LOVE how Guy is reading up on his new wife’s biography to get to know her better.

    “interesting” indeed.

  16. Alecks Says:

…wonder if Guy’s “interesting” comment was indicative of his HS Guidance Councilor mind ticking away at applying his usual tactics to this new situation.

  17. totz Says:

I’m surprised that Parker isn’t reacting more positively to the crowd. I thought she’d be totally geeked to be pressganged and seen with her love and idol, especially since her best friend’s now married to her.

Still, you gotta LOVE Parker! And Denny’s pretty damn kickass too.

  18. totz Says:

Also, the lawyer looks like Owen (secretly Puck) off that Disney cartoon, Gargoyles.

  19. Zahooee Says:

Ya’ know? I think Guy is a pretty lucky….er….guy…

I wish *my* wife had come with a book. I would’ve made it a lot easier not to forget important things.

It’d probably make for interesting reading too…

I also love how Stasia’s bus has a big eye painted on it. I assume there is a “rest of her face” to go with it. Must make it hard to be inconspicuous…

  20. Namsab Says:

    “Huh.”
What did he find in the book?! XD I so want to see the next page…
He’s gotten pretty far in the book already O_o

Parker looks so cute in the fifth panel X3

  21. Tiami Says:

Guy’s so cute; not every lady comes with a book!

  22. wedge Says:

I don’t think the news is quick enough to catch on to a wikipedia entry to know Guy’s name, concidering the slow movement of the mooninite incident. but then again, these aren’t ordinary news people, these are tabloid people!

  23. Andy-o Says:

Denny’s not a man, he’s the HULK! xD

  24. Lawl Says:

Guy and Stasia not walking together is a bad idea(If this was actually real.) Especially with Guy walking next to another girl. You know tabloid people. They’d take a picture and make up a story. Even worse is him reading the book out there like that. Take a picture, looks bad for him and Stasia. @.@ Oh well.

  25. Jared Says:

His first scene and I already like Denny.

As for reading and walking at the same time, that largely comes down to peripheral vision. As long as you can see around whatever you’re reading and don’t invest too much concentration into it (which, unfortunately, can reduce what you absorb from it), you can usually semi-conciously navigate around. It isn’t the sort of thing that you can reasonably do where there’s a lot of people crossing your path, but as long as you can avoid running into things by just varying your speed, it’s pretty easy. The real problem comes from things like stairs.

  26. Bobby Crosby Says:

“His first scene and I already like Denny.”

    Second scene actually –

    http://www.marrymemovie.com/main/2007/04/02/page-14-i-would/

  27. Violinagin Says:

Bet Parker can’t wait to get her hands on that autobiography. Of course, she knows everything already, right?

  28. dragonmage Says:

Ok, Guy is officially awesome, being able to walk, read, and completely block the screaming masses at the same time. I wonder if he can chew gum while doing all that, too ;)

  29. tgjason Says:

Looks great, this whole comic needs to stay in black and white!

P.S. I’m sure you’ll respond that you don’t like b&w but as Joe Dirt said “It’s not about what you like, it’s about the consumer.”

  30. Bobby Crosby Says:

The consumer definitely likes color more. You’re in the minority. Glad you like seeing the black and white page, though.

  31. Norgs Says:

I lke Guy’s little “huh.” It makes me think that he’s ticking off random mental thingies that Stasia might have. Or that he’s cataloging how quickly the world learned who he is.

And Denny is awesome. I have the idea of a huge southern guy that’s nice and polite until you tick him off at which point he becomes hilarious to watch and scary to have to avoid.

  32. randomfan Says:

re: Lawl “Guy and Stasia not walking together is a bad idea(If this was actually real.) Especially with Guy walking next to another girl. You know tabloid people. They’d take a picture and make up a story. Even worse is him reading the book out there like that. Take a picture, looks bad for him and Stasia. @.@ Oh well.”

… especially since Parker is wearing Stasia’s pants!! They’re going to have a field day with this!

  33. batgirl Says:

Whooooo Denny’s cool! There should be more Denny! Also Guy looks so cute and focused and Parker looks like she’s thinking ‘omg you freaks’ lol

  34. R.L. Says:

    i used to be a denny…

(i’m much more mild mannered and cuddly now.)

  35. Eisu Says:

“Also, the lawyer looks like Owen (secretly Puck) off that Disney cartoon, Gargoyles.”

Bravo, you caught the reference ^o^

  36. ThatOneChick Says:

    HOMGHOMGHOMG!
    DEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    “Y’ALL BEST BACK UP!”
    ♥♥♥♥♥♥
    DennyDennyDennyDennyDenny.

    … Okay.
My fangirling is over for the day.
    ♥♥♥

I love the expression on Stasia’s face when Janet says “I think we’re gonna need Denny.”

  37. Lil' Hanna Says:

LOL!! Oh man, I can imagine exactly what Denny sounds like. Horray for big, burly security guards.

  38. Norgs Says:

Heh…you know those random “Read” posters? I can totally see the last panel used as one. “Read. You never know what you’ll learn.”

  39. Valerie Says:

    OMG

This is the first time I’ve seen one in B&W!! Awesoooooome.
Please color it soon, though. XD I can’t pick a favorite panel ’til it’s colored.

Great job on including the side-people’s names, guys. XD

Ooh, I wonder what Guy read that’s so interestinnnnng. Seems like Parker’s wondering too. >_> (I ♥ Parker.)

And Eisu, nice job on foreshortening in the last panel! *High-fives*

  40. 'Lise Says:

    Wow … I … LOVE Denny.

  41. Elliot Kane Says:

I love Guy’s utter coolness under pressure in this one. Ignoring them all by reading Stasia’s bio is total class! Probably promote the heck out of her book without even meaning to, as well :)

Bit disappointed in Stasia for not knowing the name of her own bodyguard, though. You’d think that one would be kinda important. But I’m guessing her attention to detail is hovering perpetually around zero.

  42. Bobby Crosby Says:

It’s been discussed several times in the comments, but Denny is probably just a locally hired guy for basic security who Stasia has never seen before, which is why Parker didn’t know his name. He’s not her bodyguard, although he will become that soon. If he was her bodyguard, he wouldn’t be wearing that standard uniform with the silly Stasia hat. Stasia’s not great with names of her employees, though, like not even knowing the guy who controls the wires when she flies above the stage.

  43. Melia Says:

I thought that Guy was reacting to one of the voices calling his name from the crowd. Is he actually reacting to something he read?

  44. Bobby Crosby Says:

Reacting to something he read, yes. Totally oblivious to the voices calling his name.

  45. Alecks Says:

Wait a sec- Guy’s line has been changed!!!

Now the possibilites of the deeper meanings behind “interesting” are useless!

Although “huh” is a bit less corny and more natural…

  46. Rune Says:

Heh. I like guy better already just for the Huh.
    Totally obliuviouse.

  47. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Wait a sec- Guy’s line has been changed!!! Now the possibilites of the deeper meanings behind ‘interesting’ are useless!”

Um, the line was never “interesting.” It was always “Huh.” You incorrectly quoted it as “interesting” twice earlier, though, and I almost commented, but didn’t feel the need to. “Huh” means the same thing as “interesting,” though, basically.

  48. Eisu Says:

Yeah, I was about to say something about Alecks’ “interesting” comment since the line has always been “huh” but by the time I read through the whole comment (there were like 33 comments or something) I totally forgot about it.

  49. librarysmiles Says:

    Do I sense a “smart aleck”? :P

Guess she’s a quick read! He’s halfway through the book already! :P

  50. Jack Violet Says:

Huh, now that it was brought up, I gotta say I agree that having Guy and Stasia walk on opposite sides of Denny, with Guy publically reading Stasia’s autobiography, is a horrible PR move. It will definitely give the tabloids tons of ammo.

  51. Nessa Says:

OMG I love Guy even more now. He is just fabulous. And he read very fast. He is in the second part of the book already xD

  52. randomfan Says:

I already mentioned Stasia’s pants (worn by Parker) once on this comment page, so mentioning them again is going to seem a bit obsessive… But shouldn’t Parker still be wearing Stasia’s pants? Because they’re missing the trademark side cut-outs, at least when comparing the last panel here with pages 16 and 17. Or did somebody think of the potential negative implications of a random girl wearing Stasia’s clothing and ask Parker to change before leaving the building? Or were they concerned that Parker would never ever ever give them back (much less take them off) unless they insisted before leaving the building? In either case, whose pants is she wearing now?
(Personally, I think I’d not want to wear Stasia’s pants, they looked too cold to wear outside. And I had the impression that they’re vinyl, for some reason, which just doesn’t seem comfortable at all!)

  53. randomfan Says:

P.S. : Great job with the color, I especially like the camera flashes!

  54. Bobby Crosby Says:

Parker’s still wearing Stasia’s pants. I’m not sure if the cut-outs would definitely be seen from either of those two angles, but either way, doesn’t matter — we’re just seeing Parker too small to bother with drawing in the cut-outs even if they would be seen from those angles, I think. Anyway, same pants.

  55. Joe Says:

    Hey, great comic.

Is that Maureen, from No Pink Ponies, in the left corner of panel 3?

    LOL!

  56. Brittany Says:

I’m loving how terrified some of the paparazzi look with Denny yelling :)

  57. Eisu Says:

Maureen’s hair changes all the time that I didn’t take stock on that becoming a cameo of her, but that can work too, ha ha ha

  58. Valerie Says:

*Goes back to look at panel three*

OMG IT DOES LOOK LIKE HER!! *Squeee!!*

I know I usually say that I ♥ Parker, but I just HAVE to ♥ Maureen for this page!! X3

  59. Alecks Says:

oops. sorry bout that. i’m just crazy.

  60. KittyDove Says:

eeps! Maureen’s in there! She’s my favorite! . . . could she and Parker hook up at some point? maybe? it’d be so cute!!! *squees*

  61. Irrevenant Says:

LOVE Stasia’s big grin in panel 3. :)

    Eisu, you rock!

  62. Sylvia Says:

This could be way off base, but I was thinking perhaps the people shouting “GUY” were saying it as in “that guy” or “the guy that married Stasia” rather than as his name, “Guy.” Or maybe they’ve all gotten the information Parker posted already.

Anyways, great comic, as always. I am really enjoying this story, and it still feels like it can go almost anywhere.

  63. Bobby Crosby Says:

On Page 22 it was revealed that the press know’s Guy’s first name –

    http://www.marrymemovie.com/main/2007/04/28/page-23-publicity-stunt/

“I am really enjoying this story, and it still feels like it can go almost anywhere.”

You’re correct. It might even go to Africa!

  64. Kenneth Says:

    I really enjoy this strip.
Just started reading and now is one of my top favs. ^_^

  65. Bish Says:

“The real problem comes from things like stairs.”

hehehe, I had a broken arm to prove that point, and yet I still read on my way round the house…

I must say, what with the raging black and white/colour debate mid-swing, I actually quite like the B&W, even if it is just every now and again. Awesome work, as ever.

  66. Norgs Says:

“You’re correct. It might even go to Africa!”

I’m trying to figure out if that’s supposed to be a hint/spoiler, or if he’s just messing with us…

  67. Bobby Crosby Says:

    It’s a minor hint/spoiler, yeah.

  68. lightdefender Says:

Now Guy will know a lot more about Stasia than she does about him. Which could make things interesting for them both.

Guy might determine that Stasia is actually a person he could come to love . . . or she might be someone he couldn’t normally stand to be around. Or, most likely, somewhere in between.

  69. Bobby Crosby Says:

Somewhere in between would be boring, I think.

  70. Froggy Says:

lmao at Denny “YALL BEST BACK UP!”

    Guy is still cool

  71. otaku13 Says:

Denny IS the brute squad, lol

  72. Valerie Says:

“could she and Parker hook up at some point? maybe? it’d be so cute!!! *squees*”

Omg, that would be cool. X3 Parker needs a happy ending, I’ll tell you that much. Annnnd from the way things are back at NPP, Maureen does too. XD

  73. Borys Says:

“I lke Guy’s little “huh.” It makes me think that he’s ticking off random mental thingies that Stasia might have”

I second that. A good friend of mine is a counselour. I’m sure Guy is going through the book
    Disorder A - check
    Disorder B - check
    Disroder C - mild
    Disorder D - acute

    and so on ….

    Borys

  74. Ljo Says:

“You’re correct. It might even go to Africa!”

So perhaps daddy´s “Fool speed ahead” was not that good a decision?

  75. Jade Says:

Guy isn’t a psychiatrist… He’s a high-school guidance councellor. He gives advice; he even says himself that that’s what he tried to do, and that he hates psychological stuff.

    http://www.marrymemovie.com/main/2007/05/21/page-27/

So I doubt he’s ticking off the disorders she has; more likely trying to understand her as a person as opposed to her as a list of her problems.

  76. Raeana Says:

I’ve been wondering about Parker’s necklace, is it attached to her shirt… it kind of looks like it is. Oh, also, I love the whole scruffy, studious look on Guy!

  77. Lolli Says:

Ehe… still chuckling about the “I’m in Stasia’s pants” thing from a couple pages ago… xD

But anyways, I’m in love with this page. Denny is my all time hero at the moment. The people in the crowd’s faces are purely amusing during the first panel. And I like the nervous (I’m assuming that’s what it is…) look on Parker’s face in the second-to-last panel.

  78. Ox Says:

Eh, I’m going to put my own two cents in. I personaly like the color versions much better. The colors give the characters and the settings depth and it grounds the characters more to their settings. The black and white images lack proper shading and have a floaty feel to them…::Shrugs:: but, that’s just my opinion.

  79. Veez Says:

Denny’s the SHIZNET, yo. (that was me tryin’ to be a wigga. forgive me)

right, what can i say? I LOVE the expreession on Parker on the fifth panel! also guy looks a little too focused on his book. wonder who was calling his name…

  80. Bobby Crosby Says:

Sorry for all the internet problems today. There’s been a new page to put up for many hours (black and white version), but the admin stuff still isn’t working.

  81. Elliot Kane Says:

Hope you can get it sorted soon, Bobby :)

  82. Quarion Says:

I’m reminded of when Fesic (?) played by Andre the Giant shouted “EVERYBODY MOVE!” in The Princess Bride.

  83. BrickJAK Bouncerpants Says:

I love the Denny character. Probably because I’ve BEEN the Denny character more often than I care to remember.

  84. Zeris Says:

    Denny. . .
    Big, black and intimidating?

  85. Aaliya Says:

I love the comic so far! Although, the bit about Denny made me pause. He seems like a bit of a stereotype. Then again, it’s only one panel.

    Anywho, great comic!

  86. KaiTenSatsuma Says:

Reading while walking is a skill only the extremely concentrated can have and not bump into people / get @#^&ing lost.

  87. TheAmberKey Says:

Despite that his character at the moment is “Large black man,” I like Denny.

  88. Wolf Says:

    I like Denny. :)

“Back off, or I’ll beat the crap outta you!”
