Her snap is so nonchalant!
June 11th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
lol…parker’s expression. that i actually found funny and up until now i havn’t liked her.
guy is so sweet…he obviously actually cares about the answer’s stacia is giving. this is my fave strip yet i think.
June 11th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
I must agree with Courteney, this is my favorite page to date as well! I really enjoyed Stacia’s expression in the third panel. To me, she seem like a high school girl, all bright eyed and excited, like on a first date that is going really really well! It’s so cute! ^_^
Guy is such a cool….well, guy! It seems that awkward moments don’t throw him so much as it does others. And this situation is as awkward as one can get!
I’m not really a Parker fan myself but her expression is funny. She looks like Betty Boop to me for some reason.
June 11th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
am I correct in guessing that the snap is just to keep time?
June 11th, 2007 at 5:48 pm
i love Parker XD
June 11th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
aww. i love this comic
June 11th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
I think Parker recognizes the song. What a treat for her.
June 11th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
How old is Stasia, if she did her first album ten years ago?
June 11th, 2007 at 6:37 pm
She is 24, it’s been said many times. Good page.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:29 pm
Parker must be pissin’ her pants with joy by now. I’m happy for her too. Hope Guy appreciates it just as much as she.
Stasia’s a cute character.
June 11th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Great job on the new page…..
as a loyal fan of two very different bands, I can tell you that hearing something they wrote is always a treat, especially since the label hated it and the song probably never hit mainstream radio…
Great job with both the story and the art so far, I love it….
June 11th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
Whoah, then that makes her the most un-typical pop princess EVER!
I mean, the 97% to charity sure, but someone who started in the biz at 14, and at 24 is only crazy enough to marry a random stranger on stage… That makes her THE most sane person in Hollywood. Crazy.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:26 pm
Aieh! Stasia looks so cute on panel 3.
Great art as always.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:29 pm
lol I am terribly unimpressed with the first lyrics to her song. I suppose she was very young when she wrote it, and it is only the first line or so… I just hope to see more of the lyrics on the next page. =) I’m also curious as to why the record label hated it, I suppose it matters on the image they wanted to project of her when she was younger? (Or something else entirely, I’m making this up as I go along.)
June 11th, 2007 at 8:30 pm
She has that song on a ‘clap-on, clap-off’-derivative system? I think that’ll be informative in and of itself.
June 11th, 2007 at 8:34 pm
Funny Jared, I was thinking the same thing.
Is she snapping to keep time, or did she do that to “turn on” her stage persona?
Anyway, I wonder why Guy wanted to hear it so badly…
June 11th, 2007 at 8:58 pm
You know something, more than anyone else, I kept thinking of Cascada to actually play the part of Stasia… I don’t know why.
In any case, as was said SO many times before… I love Parker. She’s just so incredibly easy to work with from a writer’s and artist’s perspective. Plus, she’s buckets o’ fun. Period.
I was actually thinking that Stasia was keeping rhythm for the song rather than just “clap on, clap off” sort of thing. Sure, it’s kinda odd how she was able to immediately start singing right off the bat without actually cuing other than the snap.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
I am kinda anxious to hear Stasia’s full song
Also, I like that Guy seems really interested in what Stasia has to say. That gives him brownie points in my book.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
I’d say she’s snapping to get the rhythm. And I’ll bet Parker knows the song by heart. I’m sure this is a treat for her.
June 11th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
…and Guy is sweet. I agree that he does care about the answers.
June 11th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
I think she’s snapping not only once, but constantly, to keep the rhythm of the song. A lot of people do if they have to sing without music in the background.
Anyway, I can’t wait to see more of those lyrics X3 I wonder how cute 14-year old Stasia thought about first boyfriends..XD
Parker’s going to definitely cream those ’stolen’ pants now XD
June 11th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Oops, I see Skreyola beat me to the rhythm thing… ah well, sorry for that
June 11th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
The character development is awesome in this page. Stasia looks alternately like a teenager, young child and mid-thirties woman, depending on her expression. That seems to show there is more there than a typical pop star.
Interesting how Stasia totally sidesteps the whole “my father is controlling every aspect of my life” issue. “My private life affects my career.” It totally sounds like she’s regurgitating something her father has told her ad nauseum.
June 11th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
The snap is just for the rhythm, yeah. And Stasia was 14 when she WROTE it, but her first album didn’t come out until she was 17. Early on in the comic Janny said that Stasia’s been doing this for seven years.
Minor spoiler: The song is called “First Boyfriends Suck,” and you’ll hear quite a bit of it on the next page.
June 12th, 2007 at 1:27 am
I KNEW IT. I almost thought up lyrics for Stasia to use and they were about how boyfriends suck. Weird.
June 12th, 2007 at 2:50 am
looks just like stasia has a jukebox inside and can enable it by snipping with the fingers. like “yeah, I sing that song perfectly, but I couldn’t care less about what I sing”
June 12th, 2007 at 8:12 am
Kinda anxious about the lyrics, I mean Bobby did mention they’d be horrible…
But probably not any worse than Paris Hilton’s music. XD
June 12th, 2007 at 10:18 am
Stasia looks so adorable panel 3. And just look at Parker’s face at the chance to hear Stasia sing this unreleasd song.
June 12th, 2007 at 1:16 pm
i love how Stasia is so child-like but at the same time very mature, that’s a rare trait in people and i’ve always imagined it must be hard to portray while still keeping the character believable but the more i see of Stasia the more i like her (i liked her in the beginning). and Parker’s adorable I love how she looks like she might bounce out of her seat.
i also really like the dynamics of Stasia and Guy’s relationship so far.
by the way how old is Janny? is she Stasia’s younger or older sister and whose her husband? do we get to meet him?
June 12th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
By ‘horrible’ do you mean ‘cruel’ or ‘poorly written’?
June 12th, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Tori: Poorly written.
Alecks: It was released, just not as a single. It was on her first album.
KittyDove: Janny is older than Stasia and she’s not married. We might meet the father, but probably not. I don’t think Janny is with him anymore.
June 12th, 2007 at 7:40 pm
I hope she’s not just repeating something she’s heard one too many times. I hope she’s genuinely not like most celebrities and understands that what she does offstage has consequences.
By the way, she looks pretty in the third panel.
June 12th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
“updates every M*W*F”
The only thing that can turn me off a comic this good is irresponsible updates. I mean every once and a while something comes up…but it’s becoming habitual.
Either promise less (one or two updates/week) that you know you can deliever or be more responsible with the updates. The comics that make it are the ones that deliever on their promises.
While the story is good so far its still young. You may find a lot of potential viewers stop coming back just out of frustration. I read a lot of comics and its usually the ones that update sperattically (if at all) that I give up on. No matter how good their art and stories are.
Not trying to be insulting… just a little advice…
June 12th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
Tralalalalala: Ignore the MWF.
June 12th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
I’d ignore tralala…whatever,
if I were you. I’m pretty sure that same complaint was posted several pages ago.
June 13th, 2007 at 12:46 am
actually i made that very same complaint many pages ago that tralala*i touch myself at night*lalala made… but i’ve come to enjoy this strip too much to comment on it and also i’m even more excited when one does come out…
*guilty pleasure*
i actually enjoy seeing the black and white sketches ^_^
June 13th, 2007 at 2:55 am
Don’t worry, nothing will be able to beat Liam Gallagher’s “little James”
“live for your toys
even though they make noise
have you ever played with plasticine
even tried a trampoline
thank you for your smile
you make it all worthwhile
to us”
Awful, awful…
June 13th, 2007 at 5:37 am
I’m surprised Parker’s not having a seizure right now!
June 13th, 2007 at 11:15 am
>.> Why am I here? There are FIVE DIFFERENT CHAIRS over there! Why am I not over there!?!?!? AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 13th, 2007 at 12:40 pm
Taken from the livejournal of Jeph of Questionable Content (questionablecontent.net):
(Super long post of suggestions on how to make a popular online comic removed by Bobby Crosby. Laura, just put a link to it next time.)
June 13th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
And in response to that, Laura, I don’t much care about this being a popular “webcomic”. Putting this online is just a nice little gift to those of you who want to read it. The most important thing by far in this project is the finished, printed, published graphic novel, and the hopes of it leading to a Hollywood sale. Same for “Last Blood.”
June 13th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
I realy love the comic. i don’t realy care if this isn’t to be the next hollywood blockbuster.
keep the goodwork!
(greetings from holland)
June 13th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
Tralalalalala: make your own comic then since your such an ‘expert’…
the expressions are good… can’t wait for the next panel…
June 13th, 2007 at 3:21 pm
@DameonDark
Ah that’s where it was from. It’s really sad that someone lacks any form of originality that they have to copy and paste someone else’s complaint. Sad indeed
On another note…
I concur, with macaronie. Actually I enjoy this comic it as it is, a comic. I dunno I just fear Hollywood getting their hands on already established good works. I think it translates perfectly fine the way it is but of course I’m biased…
Because, Eisu’s artwork is really nice to look at. :p
June 13th, 2007 at 3:30 pm
“I dunno I just fear Hollywood getting their hands on already established good works.”
Money is good.
June 13th, 2007 at 5:04 pm
“lol…parker’s expression. that i actually found funny and up until now i havn’t liked her.”
…You… You didn’t like Parker?! o_o; I ♥ Parker. ;_;
“I mean, the 97% to charity sure, but someone who started in the biz at 14, and at 24 is only crazy enough to marry a random stranger on stage… That makes her THE most sane person in Hollywood. Crazy.”
Nice. XD
“You know something, more than anyone else, I kept thinking of Cascada to actually play the part of Stasia… I don’t know why.”
Y’know… I think I agree with you there. I’m not sure what Cascada looks like, but her voice would probably fit quite nicely. o0
“I love Parker. She’s just so incredibly easy to work with from a writer’s and artist’s perspective. Plus, she’s buckets o’ fun. Period.”
Dang right! Now tell Courteney that! XD
(I’m just playing, Courteney. To each ‘is own and all that, y’know.)
Tralalalalala: Wow, so many lala’s… Anyway, they’ve got their reasons. Bobby, from what I gather, is still writing the scripts a page at a time, and Eisu has his own comic to worry about along with this one. Plus they both have social lives, I’m sure. I don’t mean to be yelling at you or anything, Tralalalalala, just saying. (And on an unrelated note, your name makes me think of Christmas carols. XD)
Dylan: …Sorry, what? XD
Jessie: No reason to get hostile. o0 TralalalaChristmasSongs was just making a point, and even said that he/she didn’t mean to be insulting.
“Money is good.”
SELLOUT! Nah, I’m just playing with you, Bobby. XD It’s your idea, and you should do what you like with it. Though I will be a little upset if the movie deviates too much from the comic…
My favorite panel in this one iiiiiis… The third one. Stasia looks so cute!! ♥ If it’s okay to point out, though, her hair seems to change in length from panel one to panel three… but that could just be me. It looks great, though, Eisu. ♥
Oh, hey, when this comes out as a book, will it be full-color all the way through, or black and white? Pleeeease say it’ll be in color? *Puppy eyes*
June 13th, 2007 at 5:10 pm
someone mentioned about how sporadically posted comics get dropped. i guess i’m dense since i haven’t noticed this one being bad about posting and since it is a webcomic the joy is kind of in the excitement of “when’s the next page coming?!” even professionals don’t turn things in on time. CLAMP is notorious for dropping stories and they still have a loyal following.
it could also be i didn’t notice ’cause i still check comics that haven’t been updated in months ^^;
June 13th, 2007 at 5:22 pm
i just have to add that i love stasia’s “interview face”: next question! lol…yup guy is just another reporter honey!
lol Valerie…i’m just impressed you read my comment (although i’m not really sure why since i always read everybodies). as for parker…i dunno…i just dont find her that interesting. and btw thanks for spelling my name right…it drives me nuts when people dont.
June 13th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
I think that it’s wrong to say that a webcomic will only become popular if it updates regularly - I don’t know if anyone here visits megatokyo, but that’s a big and popular webcomic that DEFINITELY doesn’t update regularly. The guys here are doing a much better job - not that I don’t love fred as well.
And I really enjoy this webcomic. The updates are as regular as most well drawn comics, besides, my most important factor in reading webcomics is definitely how well they are drawn and written not when they update.
June 13th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
“Oh, hey, when this comes out as a book, will it be full-color all the way through, or black and white?”
Full color, and the first issue (24 pages) will be arriving at my apartment tomorrow! Gonna have them for sale on the site very soon. Accepting PayPal.
June 13th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
I have to admit, I’m a bit umming and ah-ing about the updating debate. In all honesty, every M-W-F I check and there’s no comic, I feel a pang of disappointment. But I’m fully aware that that’s only because I love the comic, and can’t wait to see what happens next. ^_~
I find it cute how Stasia manages to completely push aside the whole thing of her father controlling her life. “My private life affects my career. Next?” It makes me giggle; and like everyone else, think she looks adorably excited and interested. I think she likes heem.
Ohjeez, lyrics she wrote at 13/14? I’m really not sure I want to hear it. >.> Or read it, you know what I mean. Butuhm, she must have been quite grown up to get attached to a guy enough to write a song about him, which is then used three or four years later on her album. I am intrigued…
June 13th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
I can understand the disappointment in the website not being updated - and yes it is an asset for it to be updated but it is true that a lot of popular webcomics don’t update on time. And beside i check in daily to see what new comments have been added. They’re just as interesting as the comics sometimes ^-^ Interesting comments too.
And I’m loving this comic heaps! Its original and the characters are so lovable! Keep up the great work
June 14th, 2007 at 4:02 am
Ahoj!
Update regularity and popularity are not corelated. I’m one of the droolling fanboys of “Goblins”, and IIRC over the last year or so the author - Thunt - updated on time ONCE …
OOTS and Erfworld are other far from sterling updaters … not to mention No Pink Ponies
Women (or girl&boy teams) seem to be better in updating - Candi, Devil’s Panties, Penny&Aggie are churning out new strips like an assembly line. The Noob is also regular.
I don’t yet know how regular Exiern or Tears under Sunlight are.
Borys
June 14th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Hey, Bobby, what’s the price looking like for book one?
I think that you mentioned it before, but I can’t remember.
June 14th, 2007 at 11:11 am
“and btw thanks for spelling my name right…it drives me nuts when people dont.”
I know what you mean. You wouldn’t believe how many people misspell “Valerie.” XD Valarie, Valorie, Valari, Valery, Valory, etc…
As far as Parker goes… To each ‘is own, I guess. o0 (I still ♥ Parker, though. XD)
“Full color, and the first issue (24 pages) will be arriving at my apartment tomorrow! Gonna have them for sale on the site very soon. Accepting PayPal.”
YESSSSSS! Now if only I were old enough for a bank account… Pfft, oh well. I’ll ask Mom to get it for me. XD But yay, full color!!
“Women (or girl&boy teams) seem to be better in updating - Candi, Devil’s Panties, Penny&Aggie are churning out new strips like an assembly line.”
Y’know, I never really noticed before, but you have a point. o0 The female writers do seem to update more often… Haha, it’s just ’cause we’re the better gender. >_> Just playing. XD That’s pretty cool, though. I wonder if there’s a reason for that. o0 Probably something hormone-related… Girls do tend to obsess over things being right and in order more than boys. That’s a general statement, though. And I break it myself. You should see how messy my room is. XD H’anyway, cool observation.
June 14th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Yeah, I totally love this comic.
June 14th, 2007 at 6:02 pm
I bet Parker’s gonna get up and sing with Stasia. It’s probably a dream come true for her…
June 14th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
o0 The female writers do seem to update more often… Haha, it’s just ’cause we’re the better gender. >_> Just playing. XD That’s pretty cool, though. I wonder if there’s a reason for that.
Of course that there’s a reason - it is called “children”. At “cavemen” stage, the men hunted and sometimes they caught something, and sometimes they didn’t. While the women picked berries etc. in order to have some sort of regular food supply for the little ones.
Kill yourself for two days, bum away for 5 - that’s manly.
Toil away each day - that’s feminine

June 15th, 2007 at 7:04 am
Nice description, Borys. XD *High-fives*
“I bet Parker’s gonna get up and sing with Stasia. It’s probably a dream come true for her…”
Omigosh, I will laugh SO hard if she does. XD
June 20th, 2007 at 8:09 pm
why do i always heer her rap this instead of sing it when i read it….
June 25th, 2007 at 6:00 pm
I would like to extend my thanks to all the skinflint americans. Without your inability to put your money where your mouth is I would not be able to purchase this artwork. Thank you!
I have to say that my favourite so far is Guy. I love the very logical, methodical way he is handling this. Pulled up on stage and married a pop star, alright, so logically I should actually find stuff out about my… wife.
I love him.
June 27th, 2007 at 8:44 am
I love this comic so far! I’m hoping to see more in the near future! It’s very well done, has a very good storyline, and has memorable characters
Very good job on “MARRY ME”!
