Sorry for the long wait!

Marry Me finished third behind Sore Thumbs and WICKEDPOWERED in the contest for most days at #1 on WOWIO in September, so no guaranteed MWF updates for October, but at least we’re 1-for-1 at the moment with this Monday page!

  1. Billy Manic Says:

    YES! UPDATE! *confetti*
So, Guy says he’ll be back to work on Monday. What day is it in the MM universe? I’m liking where this is going and i don’t want it ruined with his job :(

  2. Bobby Crosby Says:

Page 43 said it was Thursday.

  3. Moribundus Says:

    Another great strip!

“Yeah, I said that.” I love the way Guy handles this :)

Thanks Bobby and Eisu for this excellent comic.

  4. Alex Says:

hooray about freaking time! loving the comic, been refreshing this page for days!

    Alex

  5. Sun_Tze Says:

    THIRD!

I swear i was having withdraw shypmtoms of the lack of MM updates (good thing i have +EV to read… and playing some poker, muhaha)

  6. Kris Says:

It’s great to see an update. I really eagerly await each one. Great writing by Bobby, and great art by Eisu to boot!
Keep it up guys. We’re all rooting for you!

  7. Thecrazyone Says:

    Panel one is love.
    Go Guy!
    ^_^

  8. Elisel Says:

Guy’s never missed a day? Workaholic.

…he and Stasia ought to get along *great*.

  9. Gamefunatic Says:

finally…geez, i’ve been waiting for this one forever! good job can’t wait for the rest of the story.

  10. Lydia Says:

Guy looks strangely confident.. or perverted.. in the first panel.

“Now what?” she asks. Now shit really hits the fan.

  11. Katie Says:

Wow. I can only imagine the number of kids who go to that school and are telling all of their friends that their adviser married the famous Stasia…

Another great update! :) Way to go Bobby and Eisu.

(This also explains the lack of No Pink Ponies from Eisu ;) Either way, he’s doing some fantastic work so double the props for him! )

  12. Goatboy Khan Says:

…is it me, or does the principal look somewhat like Mustache Man from Last Blood?

    Grrr…I hate that Mustache Man.

  13. Bobby Crosby Says:

That was intentional, yes, in the script. He’s the principal in all the comics I write!

  14. Pamela Says:

LOL he better get that autograph then, if he doesn’t want his boss to get mad at him.

Another reason for Stasia to fall hard for him: He’s got a level head on his shoulders, not to mention a steady job…beside being adorable. ^^

  15. Hyoban Says:

Another awesome update! Now I can’t wait for the next one! I really hope that this gets made into a movie sometime, cause I’ll be first in line!

  16. Jim Says:

    Question.

On page 9, Parker said that she hadn’t peed since Thursday due to excitement. Does that mean Parker didn’t pee for a whole week?!?!

    ….wow.

  17. Namsab Says:

I just lovelovelove the expression in the first panel. It’s the perfekt ^^”"”" eh..hehehe… in my opinion.
This page also gets a lot of bonuspoints for Guy. He just gets more and more adorable!

    Very cool boss, btw. ;P

  18. Bobby Crosby Says:

“On page 9, Parker said that she hadn’t peed since Thursday due to excitement. Does that mean Parker didn’t pee for a whole week?!?!”

Six days, but she wasn’t sure about Thursday — just guessing.

  19. XandiWolf Says:

OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVER. Impatiently mind you but damnit. I love Guy’s expression in the first panel. Its fantastic. keep up the creative genius!! *bows at your feet*

  20. ivan Says:

to Bobby and Eisu, there’s no need to say “sorry” about a late update. the two of you have lives afterall, I can accept that, as should everyone else. By the way I’m thoroughly enjoying the comic so far. and I have d/l both issues from wowio

  21. Bartimaeus Says:

    HOORAYhoorayHOORAYhoorayHOORAY! Update!!

P.S: The sketch of Parker… neat.

  22. czechpsycho Says:

such a load of crap #3 didn’t give us an update for 15days on how we were when it was #1. pft. losers

  23. Bobby Crosby Says:

Not sure exactly what you’re referring to, but I gave updates in the comments about the WOWIO contest thing. And if anyone cared enough, as you apparently do, they could have checked wowio.com themselves daily to take a quick glance at the top 10.

  24. Soni Says:

    I love Guy.

    Awesome strip, guys. :)

  25. MB Says:

I don’t think it’s very kind of you to make regular updates only if everyone votes for you. I mean, we’re your readers, the comic might be good, it’s us that make its notoriety. A webcomic without readers is like a comic in a drawer! It’s not fair that we have to earn the regular updates! They should be guaranted, it’s a question of respect. We check the comic everyday for a new page, we read it, enjoy it, tell what we think of it, and sometimes we can make some pretty constructive comments that are useful to the creators. You guys should produce a little effort back for us. Also you should care more about your readers than your comic’s fame on different websites (of course I understand it’s important and don’t say you shouldn’t seek this fame); don’t let your actual readers behind while you look for other ones!
And… I think I should stop here, or I’ll begin repeating what I said before.
We love your comic, Bobby, be kind to us.

  26. Bobby Crosby Says:

“A webcomic without readers is like a comic in a drawer!”

“Marry Me” is a graphic novel that was produced for the sole reason of publishing the final graphic novel and using that to help get a movie deal, as I’ve said a million times now. You’re welcome for putting it online as we make it, which was a total afterthought.

“It’s not fair that we have to earn the regular updates! They should be guaranted, it’s a question of respect.”

None of that makes any sense whatsoever. Get it through your head: We started making a graphic novel with the only intention being to print it after it was done — you know, on PAPER that you can hold in your hand. It was suggested that we put it online as we made the pages and we decided “OK, we’ll do that too.” We thought at the time that we would almost certainly be able to put a new page up every MWF, so we put that in the sign up there. We started missing a few days and people went INSANE, acting like huge assholes whining about it and being very mean to us about it, telling us we should change the sign. No way in hell will I ever do something that a piece of shit asshole like that tells me to do and it’s not worth taking the two minutes to change it, especially since at any time we could go back to putting out a new page every MWF. I’ve said all this a trillion times before.

“Also you should care more about your readers than your comic’s fame on different websites (of course I understand it’s important and don’t say you shouldn’t seek this fame)”

What the hell? Getting lots of downloads on WOWIO has absolutely NOTHING to do with FAME. It has to do with MAKING MONEY. The main reason we haven’t been able to update every MWF is because of a lack of money. If Eisu was paid $300 per page we could have a new page seven days per week, for example. WOWIO is the best and easiest way for us to make a lot of money off of “Marry Me,” and we make money there from getting downloads, so if it was #1 the most days in any one month, that means we’re making tons of money and we’d be able to update a ton more. If you want to make a donation of $10,000 to the comic, you’ll get your MWF updates for a long time to come. Feel free to do that.

And as I’ve also said many times before (please read through the comments before repeating nonsense like you just posted), I guarantee you that more than anyone else in the world I’m the one who wants there to be as many pages as possible of “Marry Me,” and it’s pretty disgusting for you to act like I’m somehow holding something back from YOU on purpose to be MEAN to you or something. If there were 1,000 pages of “Marry Me” right now, I’d be very rich soon from all the issues on WOWIO.

“We love your comic, Bobby, be kind to us.”

Eisu works very hard at a full time job and on top of that he takes the time to do his own comics and also work on “Marry Me” for not very much money. Neither of us are being mean to you by not putting out as many pages as you’d like, and I’ll personally be very mean to anyone who whines about this nonsense and says we’re doing it for “fame” and other incorrect things. We’re doing the WOWIO thing so we can make enough money to actually make more “Marry Me” and make them faster. Time is money.

Also please explain to me how it’s in any way mean to give you the chance to get a ton more updates. You realize, don’t you, that you don’t get LESS updates now because it didn’t meet the WOWIO challenge thing, right? It simply changes nothing in this case. You’re welcome for the chance to get a ton more updates than usual. Too bad most of you were too busy whining about pointless crap for no reason to even download the books.

  27. MB Says:

All your explanations make complete sense, and I understand them and recognize how I was wrong, knowing all that, but, gee, you’re so aggressive! I would have apologized if your answer wasn’t so rude and agressive. Of course I didn’t expect to you to burst in tears and apologize, I was expecting a calm answer a normal discussion.
I won’t post any more “nonsense”, as you said, for I won’t keep reading your comics by now. It won’t change anything for you anyway, I don’t want to keep reading the comic of someone who insulted me.

Also, I cannot participe to the WOWIO thing, because I DO NOT live in the US, and therefore cannot be a member of WOWIO. And I don’t read all the comments for every page because I don’t have time neither, because I’m a RESEARCHER and this job takes A LOT of time too.

  28. Bobby Crosby Says:

It’s hilarious that you’re a researcher and you decided to incorrectly whine about this pointless crap and call me a mean person without doing any research at all beforehand.

“I don’t want to keep reading the comic of someone who insulted me.”

And I don’t want someone who insulted me to keep reading my comic, but I’m sure you’re lying about that.

  29. Eisu Says:

I also find it funny that he’s a researcher and he didn’t research the fact that Marry Me is a side-job for me and if I don’t do or concentrate on my real job, I don’t get paid, I’ll be kicked out of my house for not paying rent and bills and no internets cos of unpaid electricity bill, phone bill and broadband service bill…

  30. SerenityLee Says:

Wow, I didn’t even think about this going on while school was in session…silly me!
The comic is great, guys, and anybody who is griping abut anything…obviously hasn’t read all the comments on the all the previous pages…. or really even much of any of them…
I think it looks great and the story line is great, and although it does make me a little sad that it doesn’t update more often, i realize that you guys are way busy. I can understand that.
Still way excited that its based in Oklahoma!!!

  31. DaxJendo Says:

Huzzah update …. i was starting to miss MM ^^

  32. Sasha Says:

I don’t think I ever saw the reasoning that your update schedule was random because you were just finishing as you went, for the reasons you stated. You may have said that, I may not have caught the blog post, but I usually read most of them so it’s not abundantly clear.

I think maybe pulling down the “new page every M-W-F” would be good, because that makes people expect those updates, since you know that’s what it says.

There’s also the possibility that people didn’t vote for WOWIO, because they didn’t think that you *could* update three times a week in October, but you still got third, so feel good about it. I’m sure more will come in.

I’m not really criticizing your point, because you obviously aren’t going for the standard webcomic, but I’d be a little less aggressive towards your fans. Even when they say obnoxious stuff you tend to look like an ass if you bite back at them the same way. Usually the people that *won’t* say something are the ones that leave disgusted and that will negatively impact you in the long run.

What if one of those people is someone in the business trying to check it out? You never know.

Anyway, you might ignore this comment, you might not. I just thought I’d leave it in case you actually cared, because I do like the comic and where it’s going.

  33. Anonymous Says:

another excellent page at ast, keep up the good work =)

  34. Viki Says:

    Woo hoo! Update!
    *eagerly awaiting the next*
Yup. That was pointless… didn’t really say anything. What should I do about that???
Hmm.. Oh well. I love the comics! So, if it gets made into a movie, would it be animated, or would it be with live actors? Just curious.. .sorry if it’s been said already, there’s a lot of pages of comics and comments, so I think it’d take forever to find the answer.
Hopefully the answer isn’t hidden in plain sight somewhere, as was the answer to the last question I asked.. *headdesk*

  35. Justin Says:

    All right! An update!

Actually, between a Last Blood update, and a Marry Me update, I think that this feeling I have this week is called “spoiled”. I can’t believe I am actually waiting to find out what happens in a webcomic which falls into the “romantic comedy” movie genre.

That is, unless there will be zombies, aliens, or something in later update. :P

I chalk it all up to the great art and writing. Great work as ever Bobby and Eisu!

  36. leduck Says:

Well, I’m a researcher too, but I’m as prone as anyone to be stubborn and wrong-headed– being a researcher (alas) doesn’t make anyone perfect or correct.

That said– awesome comic! I always look forward to reading it. Thanks for sharing an interesting story and good art with us all.

  37. trog Says:

haha MB, you GOTTA realize putting a comic up isnt required, he’s being nice enough to let us see it now…

and really, dont complain about the schedule, bobby might decide to wait a few more days to post up the next one this time… just ta bug ya. honestly, as a comic writer/artist myself, people telling me what to do gets me merely ignoring them and moving SLOWER…

so bobby and eisu, keep up the amazing work, i love it ^_^

  38. Bobby Crosby Says:

“I don’t think I ever saw the reasoning that your update schedule was random because you were just finishing as you went, for the reasons you stated. You may have said that, I may not have caught the blog post, but I usually read most of them so it’s not abundantly clear.”

I’ve said it in at least HALF of the comments pages.

“I think maybe pulling down the ‘new page every M-W-F’ would be good, because that makes people expect those updates, since you know that’s what it says.”

I’ve said literally at least 30 times that I’ll never do this, including at least once in this comments page right here that you’re currently looking at.

“There’s also the possibility that people didn’t vote for WOWIO, because they didn’t think that you *could* update three times a week in October, but you still got third, so feel good about it.”

Yes, many horrible assholes think I’m a liar. And there’s nothing to “feel good about” for third — placement means nothing — all that matters is total downloads. The ranking thing was just a very nice way to give you guys a chance to get a ton more updates than usual.

“Even when they say obnoxious stuff you tend to look like an ass if you bite back at them the same way. Usually the people that *won’t* say something are the ones that leave disgusted and that will negatively impact you in the long run.”

For at least the 20th time, less than 1% of readers even glance at these comments and I’d much prefer to have them see strong corrections to lies about the comic and me and Eisu than to have those lies go without a response, and I’m not the type to act nice and sweet to piece of shit assholes who lie about me.

“What if one of those people is someone in the business trying to check it out? You never know.”

If anyone “in the business” reads comments of mine and doesn’t want to work with me because of that, then I most definitely don’t want to work with a stupid idiot like that, that’s for sure.

“Anyway, you might ignore this comment, you might not.”

It’s the same exact comment that’s been left by about 200 other people already. I’ve responded in the same way to all of them. You can Google it.

    Viki: Live action.

  39. RalphMalph Says:

The principle looks like MY principle. Scary, no?

  40. Teardropcatcher Says:

Haha, it’s the Mustache Man! XD

I love this comic, it’s really funny. Kind of comical relief after reading Last Blood, but that doesn’t mean they have anything to do with eachother. Apart from the one that writes them O_o. Sorry, not too coherent, sleepy.

    Lots of love from Europe (wish I could support you on Wowio)! {heart}

  41. Lunaroki Says:

I love Guy’s embarrassed “I’m sorry to say I know him” expression in the first panel! Love how the story is going too. You guys do a great job! =)

  42. Steff Says:

I love Guy’s face in the first panel. xD

I’m excited to see an update! :3 Great page, guys.

  43. Jonathan Says:

Well, I guess it’s nice to know that both creators are very capitalistically driven, since that probably means you’ll be way more likely to get it all finished eventually. It is disappointing that we lost, I downloaded the two books and got some of my friends to do it as well, but I guess the other books had a more effective marketing campaign or something…

Looking forward to seeing more updates and hopefully the RSS thing will update faster in the future? It still says page 45 is the newest.

  44. zzyzxmo Says:

You have a great comic going and I hope you and Eisu are able to be published commercially and to be able to make a living from your art and storytelling. To be able to read it and d/l for free without being superspammed is a great(!!) and should be deeply appreciated by your audience. If they cannot appreciate the fact that you guys need to eat too, then I am of the opinion that you are casting your pearls before the near illiterate who have no comprehension of the hard work and dedication that goes into making a good comic.

(Exscuse me, did I say “good”, I’m sorry I meant to say “GREAT”!)

Great art, storyline, character and plot development. I will be following your work, and enjoying it for hopefully, months to come.- A new fan.

  45. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Well, I guess it’s nice to know that both creators are very capitalistically driven”

There’s not enough time in the day for Eisu to do things like this unless he’s getting paid a decent amount for it. As the man just said himself, the alternative is getting “kicked out of my house for not paying rent and bills and no internets cos of unpaid electricity bill, phone bill and broadband service bill.” It’s not capitalistic — it’s survival. (And again, when we started we thought we could do MWF updates, but for various reasons that became too difficult.)

  46. Liari Says:

Eheheh, fantastic. I’m disappointed about not getting number 1, especially since I downloaded both books a couple times, but it happens. At least nothing changes, and we still get pages. Thanks for even offering it, guys.

Doing something like this for free isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do, and they don’t have to. We’re privileged to get this for nothing, not entitled. I, for one, am grateful that they decided to do so, and fully intend to buy a print copy when they come out with one. So, thanks, Bobby, Eisu. You guys rock hard.

  47. Bobby Crosby Says:

Just to let you know, you only need to download the issues one time each. Anything more than that doesn’t do any good. Thanks for your support!

  48. Lolli Says:

-le gasp- OH MY GOD, IT’S AN UPDATE!!

    I was checking this religiously for a while… then I didn’t see this for a bit, so I almost lost hope. {Read all of No Pink Ponies in one sitting…}
    Very glad to see it back though. Panel 1 is my favourite. I love Guy’s expression. I’m always horrible at getting a feeling or emotion across in facial expressions when I draw. This is one of the few points at which I decided not to chase my manga-ka dream. ^ ^;

  49. Lucretiel Says:

At long last… thank god for RSS

  50. Other Jonathan or Jon Says:

Ack! There is another Jonathan! Go figure, and I couldn’t submit my comment earlier because my browser froze. =P

I totally called the first panel! XD ‘Cept for the name, but close enough. Great work guys, as always . . . and this from a guy who has never been much of a fan of romantic comedies before!

  51. dragonmage06 Says:

I’m glad the principal is so understanding, it would suck it he had to be in to work right after this whole thing hit the news.

  52. Dan Says:

So my friend sent me a link for this a while back. I bookmarked it but hadn’t started reading it yet. After starting it, I read through it twice I thought it was that good. This is definitely going to be a usual website to check now-a-days. This is fantastic. Thanks to both of you for your hard work.

  53. bugstomper Says:

Thank you Bobby and Eisu for a wonderful job!

Too bad for us not to get the updates, and too bad for you not to get enough downloads to give us the updates, but oh well. I tried to do my part, but with only two Marry Me’s to download compared to 19 Sore Thumbs there is no way you could have kept up unless you had ten time as many readers as your brother. And without years of material in the archive, there was no way to have more than two Marry Me’s available for download.

  54. Bobby Crosby Says:

I said this before, but the amount of issues has nothing to do with it. They rank it by the most downloaded individual issue of each series, which is why INVERLOCH #9 is the one listed on the “Top Comics” page here (will change within 24 hours) –

    http://www.wowio.com/users/searchresults.asp?txtSearch=&cbBrowse=95

  55. Ashiya Says:

Wow, update! great one to add! ^^

I’d sooo download it, but heck, I’m from Europe…

  56. Kohaku Says:

Great comic guys! I love the artwork and totally lovable expressions your characters have! The storyline is great, and i wish y’all all the best of luck and success!

  57. Geigerus Says:

here’s the way I see this whole “updates” thing:
    Bobby and Eisu have lives.
    Everyone (should) have a life.
Updates get done when updates get done.
    Patience is a virtue.
I love the comic, and dont mind when it posts. because, eventually it DOES post. the quality is always great, the storyline is always interesting. If you’re objecting to the updates, which are done, I’m quite sure, as soon as humanly possible, then you really shouldnt be reading a webcomic. Webcomics are, for most people, a sideline (at least, at first) - you dont make a whole lot of living money off them at the start, and other jobs and lives must be had to eat, live, etc.
So come on guys…so what if it says Updates MWF? is it really offensive to you that it doesnt? if it bothers you that much, take a chill pill. Life is short, relax. It’s not worth getting worked up over.
The comic, when it does update, is fantastic, and you’ll never lose me as a reader. When it doesnt update….meh, it happens. Go with the flow, guys and gals. Go with the flow…

  58. Guilt Says:

WOWOWOW, sooooo goood. Love the art style and story and everything.

  59. Alex Says:

    His students make me laugh.

  60. Zach Says:

Love Last Blood and Marry Me, Bobby.

Just ignore the assholes. They’re not worth the time you spend responding
    to them…

  61. Christine Says:

…the principal kinda looks like mustchace man from Last Blood. Weird.
Thankfully he doesn’t look like an ass!

  62. Bobby Crosby Says:

Here’s the first part of the description for the third panel in the script –

    ——————-
Panel 3: Now a shot similar to Panel 5 of Page 45. On the TV we see the PRINCIPAL, and let’s make him look a lot like the principal in “Last Blood,” this guy with the glasses and mustache –

  63. Bish Says:

Bobby & Eisu, amazing as ever.

    I have 2 questions, I had a quick browse to see if they’d been brought up, but didn’t find anything so please forgve me if they’ve been asked before;
Why do you still have the MWF… Nah, just kidding. Do you still have any printed comics for sale? I missed out initially due to being a poor, poor student, and foolishly chose food over comics. But now, yay for student loans.

Secondly, just throwing this out here, and I’ve noticed Eisu’s done it over at NPP’s, have you thought about adding a donate paypal button? I for one wouldn’t mind giving you a little hard earned cash, and if we got more updates thats a bonus. I feel a bit guilty for getting such quality comics for free, and not being able to give back. (*sigh* to be an American.)

Thanks for the entertainment. I eagerly await the next installment.

    Bish

  64. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Do you still have any printed comics for sale?”

We do, yes. Feel free to follow the instructions on this page and place an order.

“have you thought about adding a donate paypal button?”

No plans to do that any time soon, but it might happen at some point. Thanks for your support.

  65. Bish Says:

Order has been placed. :) Thanks Bobby.

  66. Get Says:

One of my favorite things about this comic is how you programmed the comments section to automatically generate complaints about how often you post. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that such comments were authored by real, live morons rather than computer-generated satires of the modern fan’s childish sense of entitlement. It’s eerie how they seem almost human, albeit appallingly stupid.

  67. Hyoban Says:

*not trying to start a fight or anything, just my two cents*

I love Marry Me, and I’m a big fan, so yes, I’m disappointed that we didn’t get number 1, but that’s not really bothering me all that much. I would just personally prefer, not M/W/F updates, but maybe just a schedule. Not even often, wouldn’t even need to be every week, just something to let us know when to check back.

  68. Bobby Crosby Says:

Check back monthly and you’ll probably get at least four pages. Or yearly, and you’ll get the whole thing.

  69. Twiggle Says:

“Just to let you know, you only need to download the issues one time each. Anything more than that doesn’t do any good. Thanks for your support!”

Crap. I downloaded both issues five or six times last month to try to help you guys out. Oh well. :’(

  70. Twiggle Says:

Sorry, I meant to say “Crap…” Looking at the way I just wrote it, it looks like I’m saying your quote is crap, and that wasn’t my intention.

  71. Bobby Crosby Says:

No worries — I understood it. Sorry about the confusion on downloading it multiple times. Thanks for your support.

  72. Viki Says:

    Question:
Now that the WOWIO contest is over, does that mean that the downloadable comics don’t give you the $0.50 each time someone (different) downloads it anymore, or do you still get money for it? *thinking about sending some friends to download*

  73. Zach Says:

“Check back monthly and you’ll probably get at least four pages. Or yearly, and you’ll get the whole thing.”

I just sprayed a little coffee onto my monitor. Dude, you are my hero.

  74. Josh D Says:

Woot time to see where they plan or not plan to be going. Must be hard to make a comic with everyone judging you daily. But screw them keep up the good work and ill keep reading ^^

  75. lizziness Says:

OK, so I know this is nit-picky and stuff. But, in the first panel I noticed that the right side of his glasses are missing part of the frame. So I was like weird , but then all in this page I noticed the same thing. So now I’m wondering did I miss something? Did Stasia and Guy have mad passion sex in an update I failed to see and broke his glasses. That would be cool. No, but seriously what’s up with that.

Oh, and in response to these ignorant assholes. Shut up and get a life. And if something about this “offends” you ,psh, leave or grow up. the end

I love you guys, keep ‘em coming. *smiles and walks away*

  76. Zantetsu Says:

How can it finish third? Sore Thumbs sucks arse. I’m a new reader, and though I’m not a big fan of girly stories this one looks nice.

  77. Bobby Crosby Says:

Viki: We most definitely still get the 50 cents per download every time a new person downloads an issue, no changes there, so please tell your American friends to sign up and get the issues, yes!

“Did Stasia and Guy have mad passion sex in an update I failed to see and broke his glasses. That would be cool.”

It would be cool, and it was cool, since that’s what happened. You can only see that scene (runs three pages) on WOWIO.

    (I am joking.)

To answer your question, I believe this is something Eisu has done several times before, possibly to avoid having the glasses block out Guy’s eyes, to make sure we can still see his expression. I like it.

  78. Ari Says:

“For at least the 20th time, less than 1% of readers even glance at these comments and I’d much prefer to have them see strong corrections to lies about the comic and me and Eisu than to have those lies go without a response, and I’m not the type to act nice and sweet to piece of shit assholes who lie about me.”

I don’t mind you being firm Bobby, but I do really love your comics and it kinda jars that impression when I see you being so defensive with people who’re talking calmly with you.

But keep on defending yourself all the same, whether you agree with me or not, because this is your space and while we’re here it’s basic courtesy to follow your rules. I think a lot of people forget online that they’re guests in other people’s (virtual) spaces, and should show at least a little respect because of that. And on top of that, they should show even more respect because you guys are bringing us a highly detailed and pretty cool story in the form of a graphic novel, FOR FREE.

Any recognition you guys get for that would be well-deserved if you guys put out pages that were half this quality. To accuse you of lying for the sake of fame to stoke your egos is pretty sad, and I can understand why that’d annoy you.

  79. Bobby Crosby Says:

Very minor announcement: Later today for the first time in months I’m actually going to be sending Eisu TWO script pages at once. It’s my guess that both pages will be up on the site by Wednesday, but I’m not sure what Eisu’s schedule is for the next week, so don’t hold us to that.

  80. Milton Y Says:

    I love this comic! =]

  81. slick_richie Says:

“have you thought about adding a donate paypal button?”

No plans to do that any time soon, but it might happen at some point. Thanks for your support

damn when i was reading half way through bout the money factor i thought that but someone beat me to the punch :(

a few webcomics out there have a donation page so when ever ur ready in sorting that ill donate £10 to you for respect for the work you 2 put in this comic which i enjoy.

bobby u remind me of banky from chasing amy. someone who gets their back up and fights back, but thats cool as i am sort of the same (not in comics though lol)

  82. slick_richie Says:

something i just realised as well.

isnt there a page missing? i went through the whole comic today and i remember there was a page mentioning parker explaining why her username iamyourlove was cause of one of stasias songs was called where is my love.

useless bit of memory recall there. mostly cause i am drunk at the mo.

  83. Bobby Crosby Says:

“i went through the whole comic today and i remember there was a page mentioning parker explaining why her username iamyourlove was cause of one of stasias songs was called where is my love.”

I think I simply mentioned that in the blog post.

“bobby u remind me of banky from chasing amy.”

I’ve still never seen that movie all the way through, but I have played poker with Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes! Not a big fan of his work, but I love his blog.

Also, if anyone actually wants to send us money, go right ahead! Don’t feel like having an official PayPal button at the moment, but if you want to send money, I’m not gonna stop you.

    Eisu’s PayPal address: eisu.commish@gmail.com

    My PayPal address: bobbyc512@gmail.com

Feel free to distribute it however you’d like! Just to let you know, Eisu gets a relatively small page rate (money per page) and also shares in a percentage of the profits (none yet, but should be a nice amount once we start getting WOWIO checks).

  84. Mynhard Says:

OK, just so you know up front: I couldn’t stop reading Last Blood until the most recent page, and ditto for Marry Me. Your writing is excellent (as are your two artists’ work). However, I keep seeing “Want to donate $1 to and I…”, and I know this is pedantic, but _please_ correct the grammar!

  85. Sakka Says:

Nooooo, ugh, i hate this…why are you so mean bobby? Last Blood and now Marry Me?! Don’t you know that these online graphic novels keep me sane…lol. *tears* and than it stops and I go and cry in the corner until i realize that there is many others i can read until there is an update. p-q

Great work once again, i love the fact that each artist you works with is so amazingly talented and make a great team with you.

  86. Bobby Crosby Says:

I’ve always screwed that up. I’m decent at grammar overall, but I never actually learned it well. I have no clue what a predicate is or a conjunction or most of those things. Thanks for the correction.

  87. Lucky Says:

I pose a simple question… Is it possible that the reason that WICKEDPOWERED and Sore Thumbs have more votes is BECAUSE they update consistently instead of only twice in the month of September?
    -Lucky

  88. Bobby Crosby Says:

Lucky: It’s a factor, but the main reason is because they’ve done more advertising. “Sore Thumbs” advertises a ton and “WICKEDPOWERED” had huge success with an ad on “Misfile.” It was still pretty close, though. I believe the final count was “Marry Me” with six days on top, “WICKEDPOWERED” with seven, and “Sore Thumbs” with I think 10. Either way, they’re all from Blatant Comics, a company which I’m the president of, so it’s pretty nice. The top five books on WOWIO currently are all Blatant books.

  89. Lucky Says:

Are you planning any level of advertising campaign?

  90. Bobby Crosby Says:

We’ve done a little, but not much. Better to advertise “Sore Thumbs” because there are so many issues — more issues, more downloads, more total money. Only two issues of “Marry Me” so far. We also need to wait until we get the first WOWIO check (mid-November) before spending too much on advertising — first, so we can trust them and know we’ll get paid (which we better or I’ll go completely insane), and second, because we need money to spend money. They pay quarterly.

EDIT: Just sent Eisu the scripts for Pages 47 and 48. I think they’re all right.

Minor spoiler: Page 49 will be the first one not set in Tulsa. Well, it’s possible that will be pushed back to Page 50 actually. And I just remembered that Page 25 also wasn’t set in Tulsa.

  91. Skreyola Says:

Great job on the GNIP. The update schedule is fine; after all, it’s free. But I have to agree that the comments could be better.
Yes, I know you guys have lives, and that some morons write nasty things and stupidly ask you to do what you’ve said you wouldn’t, but it would be better all around (and less jarring to the readers who admire your work) if you just used a calm canned response for those folks (e.g. “Thank you for your interest. We’re putting pages up as fast as is feasible. We’re not taking down the update sign, so stop wasting your breath. Enjoy!”)… or just ignore them. You have plenty of fans who will set them straight on the score.
Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into this GNIP. Best wishes.

  92. Bobby Crosby Says:

“some morons stupidly ask you to do what you’ve said you wouldn’t”

You mean like you just now? I’ve also said very clearly many times that no, I will not give canned, friendly responses to idiots who try to pointlessly tell me to do and whine about the way I say things for no reason. I’ve actually said many times before that I’d not allow comments like yours and would ban people for making comments like yours. I’ll leave this one up, but comments like yours are even more annoying than the ones from the asshole jerks. Thanks for the best wishes.

  93. Bartimaeus Says:

Oh no, here we go again…

  94. Bobby Crosby Says:

Comments like that don’t help any either. Just talk about the damn comic, jeez.

  95. Shmoose Says:

I like how the T.V interrupts him. =P
    Very lovely. ^.^

  96. Nick Says:

    Happy Happy Joy Joy!

Thanks guys, you’ve brightened an otherwise bland college day.

  97. Hest Says:

I got introduced to this via a friend on RvB.com and have to say that I have enjoyed it completely. The comic has a wonderful flow and the style and writting are just great. Keep up the good work guys, I look forward to reading more and more of this.

  98. sara Says:

i love your comic, it’s awesome!! but i was wondering… when is the next page coming? hope it will be amazing as all the others…!! and i really like stasia’a face in the 5th panel…

  99. KrisKrash Says:

I love this comic, it’s one of my absolute favourites! The art is marvelous, it captures expressions perfectly and gives great depth (that and the hair looks much more achievable in real life, unlike alot of other web-comics). And the writing is great! I secretly (well, ok not so secret now) want to become a writer, so I love to see how other people torture thier characters into great situations : )
You guys brighten my day! Thanks for publishing!

Oh, and I absolutely love the drawing for panel 5. Even without words you can tell Stashia is totally starting to adore Guy and Guy’s stance and facial features match his personality perfectly.

  100. Ryah Says:

Haha, I love the first panel. And yay for Mustache Man’s cameo!

  101. Mandy Says:

I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Also, I asked a question in the last comic’s comment area, and you kindly replied, saying that I could use a credit card as well. But the thing is, I’m only thirteen. I don’t have a credit card of my own, or an ID, or anything like that. Anyways, I’m going to try to convince my mom to let me use her credit card. Wish me luck. :)

  102. Bobby Crosby Says:

Mandy: Good luck with that. I’ve heard that it’s pretty easy to get a non-anonymous e-mail address. Maybe Google that and try to get one.

  103. Valerie Says:

    There was more fighting for a bit there. ;_;

*Will never read the comments again* XD

    Ahhh man. I don’t think I’ve left a comment in a loooong time… Sorry.

But’yes, Guy = awesome in the first panel. Nicely done, Eisu. ;)

And wow, I really love his attitude toward this. XD “Yeah, I got married to the biggest popstar since Britney, I’m in total shock, and my best friend may or may not want to kill me right now, but I’ll be back to work on Monday, no problem!” XD!!

Ahhh, guys… This comic’s wonderful. Keep it up. :)

(Also, since I haven’t said so in the oh-so-looongest time, I ♥ Parker.)

  104. Zantetsu Says:

Hm… With all due respect, not advertising a good online graphic novel because a mediocre non-humourous webcomic gains more income is what a sellout does. It’s the same idea behind most stories where authors refuse to let their characters die because it might lose readers.

That’s you Eichiro Oda (One Piece).

  105. Bobby Crosby Says:

“Hm… With all due respect, not advertising a good online graphic novel because a mediocre non-humourous webcomic gains more income is what a sellout does.”

What are you referring to? Either way it’s impossible for it to make any sense. Maybe you’re talking about this –

    ——————
Better to advertise “Sore Thumbs” because there are so many issues — more issues, more downloads, more total money. Only two issues of “Marry Me” so far. We also need to wait until we get the first WOWIO check (mid-November) before spending too much on advertising — first, so we can trust them and know we’ll get paid (which we better or I’ll go completely insane), and second, because we need money to spend money. They pay quarterly.
    ——————

If so, you don’t know what “sellout” means. “Sore Thumbs” has more readers online than “Marry Me” and can make a lot more money on WOWIO and it seems like a bit of a waste to buy advertising for the WOWIO issues of “Marry Me” when there’s only two issues on there. It’s not always a “sellout” to make a smart business decision, but many morons think it is or just like to call people names for fun. And obviously tons of people disagree with you about “Sore Thumbs” being a “non-humorous webcomic.” We have a limited amount of money to spend on advertising and it’s obviously the smart thing to spend the vast majority of it on “Sore Thumbs.”

  106. AdiOpERsOcoM Says:

I’m used to seeing webcomics with the misleading M-W-F schedule. And by misleading, I do not mean the creators of said webcomics withhold updates on either one of those days on purpose. I know how busy they can be with they real life/job, so I don’t complain. Rushing doesn’t help, folks. For crying out loud.

Ah well. Whooooo for an update.

  107. Norman728 Says:

I’ve been following Marry me since the link on Sore Thumbs or was it Wicked Powered. and enjoy it to now it has quirky quality that makes me laugh out loud….. as for the update schedule Many web comics I subscribe very rarely keep to their schedule only one i read actually keeps up on it’s updates and one used a clever plot device to explain the lack of updates cough. Keep up the GREAT WORK You Two and I’ll Keep Reading.

  108. Zantetsu Says:

I understand ST gains more publicity which in turn raises the general income from adverts, though reading both comics (I only ran through Sore Thumbs once expecting it gets better till about 400 pages… None. : five-strip story arcs and occasional strip on popular topic; Picking CAD and LFG as contrasting examples explains much better than I would).

This doesn’t just go with webcomics. You see a lot of underrated games overshadowed by those “popular” versions and people rarely get to hear about them other than from word of mouth. Too many times I’ve seen very high quality pieces of software not reaching Western shores from Japan because a gargantuan franchise such as Final Fantasy does not let games such as the Treasure of the Rudras, Treasure Hunter G, Brave Fencer Musashi 2, Seiken Densetsu III and dozens of others I’ve probably never heard of.

This last example fits this comic; The bigger franchise gets more revenue, even if it does suck and people get to miss out on really beautiful works.

This took longer than what I normally post anywhere online… But I wanted to clarify my viewpoint further just in case you misunderstood me in saying you’re a big meanie because you don’t advertise this much. :

  109. Zantetsu Says:

I can’t edit my comment, but some of the text has gone missing. Just giving a heads up.

  110. Bobby Crosby Says:

I’m guessing text went missing because you tried to do a smiley face (the last character in your post is a colon) — when people post smiley faces here the rest of their comments don’t show up for some reason most of the time.

As I’ve said many times, I hate “Sore Thumbs.” There’s no disagreement there. It’s not in any way selling out, though, to advertise it more than “Marry Me.” If “Marry Me” had over 20 issues and “Sore Thumbs” only had two, the situation would be reversed and we’d be advertising “Marry Me” a trillion times more than “Sore Thumbs.” WOWIO pays us 50 cents per download per issue, so the more issues, the more downloads, the more money. A very small aspect of this is the popularity of the comics, but you keep harping on that for some unknown reason. That’s like less than 1% of the reason for where our advertising dollars are going. “Marry Me” just started this year and already has almost as many readers as “Sore Thumbs.”
