Page 52: Getting Lucky
Sunday, November 25th, 2007Parker didn’t get any sleep last night either. I wonder if she’s pretending to be asleep like Guy is. Probably not. Thanks for your patience with the update schedule!

Am I first? Love the strip, there’s some nice dialogue from Ana.
November 25th, 2007 at 4:24 am
first post ?
November 25th, 2007 at 4:24 am
O.O love the last panel xD Can’t waiut what guy thinks of this, first time commenting but I love this comic ^^
November 25th, 2007 at 4:46 am
nice guy almost seems sneaky.
November 25th, 2007 at 4:57 am
Does she mean “get lucky” as in have luck for a good relationship, or get lucky as in “get it on” lucky?
November 25th, 2007 at 5:02 am
Perfect job
waiting for next issue O:o)
November 25th, 2007 at 5:31 am
Guy… doesn’t seem like he’d be happy about her reasons, but I bet he already had them figured out. Shrinks of any type are scary people.
I can see why Ana would feel this way though, if she waits for guys to come to her, all she’s gonna get is money-loving jerks who don’t even care to get to know her as a person. By picking someone who really didn’t even want to be there, she’s making it much harder to grab a loser. And, she’s expanding the hollywood gene pool, which we all know is far to shallow.
I really caint wait to see what Guy’s reaction is to her comments while he was ’sleeping’ though… ought to be good.
November 25th, 2007 at 5:48 am
Pity that the dialogs will have to get seriously watered down in order to fill screen time. They are so to the point right now.
November 25th, 2007 at 8:33 am
Guy is a sneaky spyyy!~
Nice job on this strip.
I love the expressions (as always!).
November 25th, 2007 at 9:29 am
I love the look Ana gives Janny in the fourth panel, it’s priceless
Definitely one of those “if you weren’t family, you’d be in big trouble…” kind of looks.
Good job in all aspects yet again; the awesomeness of the strips always makes up for the wait.
November 25th, 2007 at 9:44 am
Has Guy been “sleeping” the whole time?!?!?!?!
Also, first time poster, long time reader, love the comic!
November 25th, 2007 at 10:33 am
My god im in the first twenty posters,
happiness, guy is sneakier than i thought!
November 25th, 2007 at 10:43 am
I think Guy was just a lite sleeper, when Ana just waked him up with her blanket… but he stayed quiet there as he listen to Ana’s reasons for marrying him. I think it is very sweet that Janny rubs it in that a ex-boyfriend had just dump her the last time Ana felt like just marrying someone.
Ana does seem more level headed to know that she want someone normal. Beyond the fake Hollywood crowd. And Maybe She just got lucky with Guy. I think, Guy will be sneaky enough not to let on that he heard the conversation between Ana and Janny. Is Ana setting herself up for failure, thinking no one is perfect? True no one is perfect, but I hope she is not going to try find fault in Guy and lose sight on his good qualities.
Being too perfect is a fault in itself.
Love this comic.
PBH
November 25th, 2007 at 11:39 am
It’ll be neat to see what happens… and I hope she ‘got lucky’ after all.
November 25th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
The expressions in panel four are hilarious. xD
Good page.
November 25th, 2007 at 2:12 pm
FINALLY!!!!! i have been checking everyday!! i like the dialog but the world bubbles make it kinda hard to understand whos talking
November 25th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
Guy, you sneaky little monkey!! ^^
I can definitely understand Ana’s reasons, and I don’t blame her in the least.
And I love her response to ‘handling Parker’. It’s just how she says that her heart goes out to her.
AGAIN, YOU GUYS ARE ROCKIN’ IN THE FREE WORLD!!!
November 25th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Yo Bobby I read all your comics. I think they are all wonderful.
Do you think you and Owen can go on a Marryme creation spree like you just did with Last Blood? Pretty please. This story is very interesting, but you upgrade it slowly and the wait just kills me
November 25th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
“Do you think you and Owen can go on a Marryme creation spree like you just did with Last Blood?”
Remy “Eisu” Mokhtar illustrates, letters and colors “Marry Me.” He also has a full time job.
November 25th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
hehe i love this comic!!!!!
November 25th, 2007 at 4:33 pm
Guy looks ready to do something… like jumping in front of the two girls and yelling a hardy ‘YARR!’
November 25th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Judging by the Guy shown so far, I’d bet he was a light sleeper and doesn’t want to upset the ladies by jumping up and screaming, “my ears! Oh God! They burn!”
Also, Bobby, who’s name won the name-a-Jeeves?
November 25th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
Yeah…. My first thought was that the words “dumped”,”dump”, “dumping”, ect are taboo with Ana…
Second thought: From Pirate to Ninja. Could’ve realised this much.
November 25th, 2007 at 6:46 pm
The illustration style seems… slightly different from the last strip. A little bit cleaner on the smaller details, maybe? I’m not complaining about either page, believe me, but the outlining just seemed a little bit different.
Love the expressions, as many people have already said.
November 25th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
Well, I hope she gets her wish.
November 25th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
Love this strip! Ana is showing such lovely behavior and Janny seems like she’s trying to nerve Ana heheh. Guy is being very sneaky, tho I think if Ana finds out, he’ll be in trouble!
November 25th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
So did Guy actually pretend to be asleep the whole time, or did he wake up because of the ruckus?
November 25th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
oh Guy. you are so sneaky! that is probably why i love him… *sigh*
November 25th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Bobby, I love the comic series, but I think you’ve gotta REWRITE the dialog on this.
Here’s an example, with stuff in {} that I especially ask you to rewrite in my rewrite.
I know I’ve lived a very blessed life, but … all of my relationships have ended in disaster.
It’s like a I’m a magnet for men who {shouldn’t even be allowed to date.}
I want someone normal, someone without an agenda, someone *I* chose. Even if it was for stupid reasons. I think that’s the only way I can even hope to be lucky in love.
November 25th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
LOL.
November 25th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
Yanno i get the feeling that Parker isnt 100% gay. Maybe she has a slight crush on Guy? I mean if you have gay friends sometimes you see its more like 95% gay and if there is a really great person of the opposite sex an exception occures. or maybe my gay friends are pretending (I know like 2 are just to feel girls up –_– )
November 25th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
I would probably do the same thing in that situation.
The best way to tell what somebody is really like is to see what they’ll do when you’re passed out with them.
I don’t think guy is being “sneaky”.. that has a malicious tone to it; more like Covert. “Ignore the man behind the curtain…”
Also, Panel 2, anyone get the double entendre (not to be confused with a menage-a-trois) with Ana asking Janny is she’s cold… or “Why is she so cold [towards people]”
November 25th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Still going strong can’t wait to see more here and on wowio. also any more cross over cameos like when Gary showed up in Sore Thumbs?
November 25th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
Jonathan: Parker is 100% gay.
November 25th, 2007 at 10:50 pm
Sorry, I think I wrote something mostly wrong above.
I only intended to suggest that I thought panel 6 needs a rewrite. I did *not* intend to suggest anything about rewriting anything else!
When I said “here’s an example,” I only meant to suggest an example of how someone might try to rewrite panel 6.
Is it Murphy’s Law in action that to suggest rewriting a panel, I post a message that I should have rewritten before I posted it?
November 25th, 2007 at 10:59 pm
I adore the little moments between Ana and Janny. They act like real sisters and despite what has happened so far, they have not changed their feelings toward each other since the first page.
Which is great because that’s what really grabs me!
I wonder how Guy is going to react to all of what Ana is saying. She’s treating him like a get-away car and he wants to help her… but is there anything else there? We’ll see!
Another nicely written page by Bobby, another amazingly drawn page by Remy. Keep up the great work, you two!
November 25th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
Oh, I left something out (Sorry if this is considered spam or some such thing.)
Thanks for putting this online.
I know it’s strange and I know that you’re doing it to sell the script anyway; but nevertheless it’s really great to see the comic online and free for us to read.
November 25th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
Nis: You suggested adding two pointless, unnecessary lines and you said that I’ve “gotta REWRITE the dialog on this.” The lines you want added are already implied and would just be wasting space and making her dialogue sound fake also, especially when she’s talking to her sister and best friend in the whole world who already knows most of this stuff very well. She doesn’t need to go into long speeches with her recounting her love life.
November 25th, 2007 at 11:01 pm
Been reading for a while, first time posting.
A good comic all around.
I’ve gotta chime in though about all the speculation about Guy.
I don’t guy is playing like he’s asleep or trying to be sneaky or covert at all. It’s more likely Parkers outbreak woke him up and he’s trying to go back to sleep.
The feel I get from what we see of his expression in the last pannel is more of understanding Ana and why she did what she did. It’s also a realization of what she’s really looking for. I’m pretty sure he can sympathize with her.
It wil be interesting to see how he reacts to all of this though, because now he knows what she’s really looking for. Is he going to string this along, or is he really going to fall for her and be the man she needs, or is he going to fess up and step back from her? only time will tell.
November 25th, 2007 at 11:13 pm
Scott, here’s an e-mail I sent to Eisu last night –
—————————-
Eisu,
By the way, I forgot to mention this before because it had been so long since I wrote the script and I’ve been really busy tonight and didn’t really pay enough attention, but I actually thought it was really important to see both of Guy’s eyes in the last panel, but just see that one of them was open, of course. It doesn’t seem quite as sneaky when we just see one eye total and see that it’s open. Seems a lot more sneaky and obvious that he’s pretending to be asleep if we see both eyes and see that just one is open and the other is closed. I probably didn’t make it clear enough in the script, though. No need to change it, but just thought I should mention that.
Bobby Crosby
————————-
He replied with “Ah! That’s a damn good idea, I should’ve done that. I think I might be able to change it for Print/WOWIO copies. I’ll try to see what I can do.”
Also want to say that I’m very confused by people who are apparently thinking that Stasia revealed something bad on this page. Do you think she somehow should have married him for his great personality or something, before she ever met him? She’s simply saying that she took a gamble and hoped to get lucky by having a great relationship with a normal guy as opposed to letting her dad fix her up with celebrities basically to increase both of their profiles. She didn’t really fully answer Janny’s question. Just said she wanted to get lucky.
“also any more cross over cameos like when Gary showed up in Sore Thumbs?”
Just told Chris to put Parker in ST. He said “Heh.”
November 26th, 2007 at 12:34 am
Are we ever going to hear about why and by whom her sister is pregnant? Or was that explained already. Sorry, it’s kind of bugging me. After all, she is flying halfway around the world right now, looking ready to deliver at a moment’s notice.
Love it all, btw.

Who says Guy even has to say anything… I mean if he woke up partway through he may not have heard all of what they said. And even if he did wouldn’t it be better for him to simply take her statements into account for when he gives her advice later.
After all it could end up just being potentially embarrissing for all three of them when he may not even understand the context behind some of what they are saying.
For example I know when I’m talking to my family a lot of times what is not being said or how something is said completly changes what the words themselves indicate. Often we sound rather cold and sometimes outright nasty to others in how we communicate but for us well… What ain’t being said is often much more inportant to us. Yet to us the words are implied by their very ommision.
November 26th, 2007 at 4:39 am
“Who says Guy even has to say anything… I mean if he woke up partway through he may not have heard all of what they said.”
He never went to sleep — was pretending the whole time. But you’re right — he’s not going to say anything about it.
November 26th, 2007 at 5:07 am
“Get lucky” has the wrong connotations to it..
November 26th, 2007 at 5:34 am
I love the panel where Janny says “You feel genuinely for everyone!” And then Ana just replies: “Are you cold? Should we put blankets on them?”
That was genious in my eyes.
To prove her character right with the next bubble.
November 26th, 2007 at 6:21 am
Parker In Sore Thumbs would be Interesting. I love how that Ana(Stasia) is in this Situation and still she is still concerned about the others. But I can’t help thinking when the other shoe is going to drop.
November 26th, 2007 at 7:28 am
this comic rank is droping, but I don’t care. as long this comic is continuing updating, I’m happy.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:20 am
I, like everybody else, wonder how Guy feels about that.
November 26th, 2007 at 1:40 pm
fourth panel ftw \o/
November 26th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Aw…I’m liking Stasia more and more through the comic. Love the narrowed eyes, lol. Nice page, keep it up!
November 26th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
I absolutely adore Janny’s expression in the 4th panel. And shame on Guy for eavesdropping on their conversation. He should know better than to do that.
November 26th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
Well, while I don’t like her reasons, I can’t fault her for them. Because, honestly, how many times has anyone wanted to do that? Most of my relationships have ended disastorously, and I’d like that not to happen once. She just had the oppurtunity.
November 26th, 2007 at 4:30 pm
Alex (and anyone else who feels like you): Why don’t you like her reasons? I don’t understand what’s bad about what she said. What could be a GOOD reason for deciding to marry a random stranger? It’s a complete and total risk, a gamble — she obviously knew nothing about Guy, so she would HAVE to get lucky in order for it to work out.
November 26th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
This characters are very real. I love them. Your art is inspiring and the anatomy is always perfect. I love the way you draw hair!!
Beautiful work.
November 26th, 2007 at 6:24 pm
“but I actually thought it was really important to see both of Guy’s eyes in the last panel, but just see that one of them was open, of course. It doesn’t seem quite as sneaky when we just see one eye total and see that it’s open.”
Bobby, although you are entirely correct two eyes open would show clearly that he was just being sneaky the way it is currently drawn demonstrates this by having him looking upwards / around.
Clearly he is listening in, if he had just woken up he would be looking forwards, i just dont think people asking the question have noticed the detail.
November 26th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
“i just dont think people asking the question have noticed the detail.”
Gotta make things clear for people.
November 26th, 2007 at 7:06 pm
Stasia’s little speech made me sad.
To have love go so consistently wrong for her that she thinks hooking up with a random stranger is her only shot at a normal relationship… I feel so incredibly sorry for her.
November 26th, 2007 at 8:03 pm
Speech continues on 53, by the way — just wrote some of it. I like it — a lot more than 52 at least.
November 26th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
I feel like I’ve been waiting forever for this page. Though as I am not a fellow comic writer/artist and I don’t have the slightest clue as to exactly what kind of work is put into this or what all the writer/artist have to do in addition to this comic that’s actually okay.
I think I read all the way through from the first to the last of these in less than a night. They are really good. I love the dialouge and the humor is done with very nice timing. I could have written those compliments in a much more eloquent way but I got distracted by my cat. She is sitting by my computer purring incredibly loudly and staring at the wall. Also, I’m easily distracted.
Love the comic and hope that the next one comes soon.
November 26th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
I’d love to draw Parker in Sore Thumbs. Great character both design wise and personality wise.
November 27th, 2007 at 2:25 am
Hahaha, I’m getting a kick out of all the hub-bub and speculation. I truely believe the mark of a good story is when the story keeps going. In your head that is.

It’s funny that even though so many fans are contemplating what Guy could, would, and should do, he is really no more and no less what the writers and artists makes him out to be. He currently doesn’t exist beyond this point of time.
Not that expanding upon a character’s character in your head is bad, in fact, it’s the desired result. It’s what keeps fans coming back, to see what really does happen.
In other words, You guys are doing a great job, Keep at it!
Honestly, I love the story and the art, I’m already looking at the big picture, I know they’ll eventually “fall in love” in the end (as far as web comics *have* an end) I’m just sitting back and waiting to see how it’ll happen.
November 27th, 2007 at 10:42 am
Guy is very sneeky! “I am very sneeky, Sir” “you underestimate my sneekiness, Sir” -Mr. Deeds
November 27th, 2007 at 11:04 am
The angle we see guy’s eye at, as well as it’s orientation, shows that he’s at least paying attention. And do you blame him? It’s hardly malicious to just relax and listen to the conversations around you, even if it smacks of listening in. Especially to someone you married on a whim, but are going to try and make it work with. That’s just gathering intelligence, and if Ana was smart, she’d try to pull the same stunt herself. And really, why would he be upset about her reasoning at all? If he took offense at the “nobody’s perfect” line, then he certainly isn’t worth it. Nobody is perfect after all, despite what overly emotional, half-crazed friends might say.
I would like to comment that these last two comics (52 and 51) have helped me really like Ana a lot more. She was a bit annoying previously, one of those people who smiles too often. However, when she shot her sister that genuinely mean look? That was good. Still smiles a bit too much…
November 27th, 2007 at 11:46 am
Sprain: You’ll like Ana even more after 53.
November 27th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
Hey, so maybe this is old news and everyone but me knows the answer, but… How come Sore Thumbs borrowed Gary (and his t-shirt) from Marry Me? And is Chris Crosby related to Bobby Crosby?
November 27th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
I think Guy’s perfect! Jk, but I can understand Ana’s logic. She’s just worried about ending up all alone and that’s a basic fear of any young woman. Love this one mostly because Guy is awesome!!!
November 27th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
Viki Im pretty sure they be brothers and because Gary is Hardcore and the shirt is the meaning of life. Aside from 42 of corse.
November 27th, 2007 at 7:44 pm
Smooth move, Janny. -laughs- What a sensitive woman…
Bobby: “You’ll like Ana even more after 53.”
WHAT?! WHY?!?! You can’t just leave people hanging like that!! I could possibly be the first [assuming it hasn’t already happened] cases of people who died from WAITING!! (.____.) Death by suspense……. not pretty.
November 27th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
Please update more!!!
November 28th, 2007 at 7:29 am
Cool beans. I’m looking forward to it.
November 28th, 2007 at 5:06 pm
Beans? What beans?
November 28th, 2007 at 5:17 pm
Great comic. I’ve read the whole archive today. I like it alot.
November 28th, 2007 at 6:18 pm
I like this one! I think Guy would actually appreciate that “nobody’s perfect line” because then he knows that ANA knows that he’s not perfect, which makes things a lot easier on him because he’s not trying to live up to something impossible.
November 28th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
So so sorry for the double post but this just clicked!!
“he never went to sleep”
So he was awake for the whole pirate thing and everything? And he never spoke up? I guess that would have blown his cover, but still. It would be hard to keep quiet when your best friend is trash talking you when you’re supposedly asleep. I’m sure he knew Parker was just joking though.
November 28th, 2007 at 6:47 pm
Hey bobby, I started reading this half way through the series. I think you guys are doing really good with this and I wish you would update more, its murder! But then again who knows maybe that is part of this comics success the wait, but I just love this comic so much because she seems so innocent in her wants and Guy is perfect for this situation, an intelligent and carrying individual. Well, I hope to see you post more if you ever get the chance. Keep up the hard work mate!
Aut Pax Aut Bellum
December 8th, 2007 at 7:39 pm
just curious.
who was the guy Ana almost married 2 yrs. before
if only he wasn’t wearing a cowboy hat?
could it have been Guy?
i would totally flip if it was actually him. c”,
December 9th, 2007 at 5:49 pm
xD I love that look she gave.
But by the by…why does she want to test him?
She’s the one who wants to be married and she was the one who in thought pushed more on the marriage process…
Isn’t that kind of bad??
Or I might be over thinkiing it XD
Awh well for the entertainment process!!!
March 21st, 2008 at 10:55 am
I love the look on Janny’s face in panel four. It seems to say, “Oh, snap!”
July 18th, 2008 at 8:41 am
Lebron dumped her?
ex boyrfriend top scorer in NBA?
Lebron JAMES
