Page 90: Full Circle
Wednesday, June 25th, 2008Second to last page of the graphic novel! I suggest re-reading the first five pages at this point.
One more page left (probably up tomorrow/Thursday) to wrap up the graphic novel (the film’s story), then we’re going to do some more Marry Me comics, probably short stories featuring the characters (hopefully at least one page per week). We’ll start taking pre-orders soon for the graphic novel, which comes out in late July (for the San Diego Comic-Con). Post in the comments if you want to buy the book, just to give us an idea of the interest.

For Bobby: I LOVE your full circle with the text on this page. It makes me smile, especially because of the complete opposite of Stasia and her sister.
For Eisu: Panels 2 and 3 are so amazing, facial-wise. I can’t even word that correctly, but I hope you know what I mean.

I love all the aspects of this! The non-preggo Janny vs the preggo Stasia! Seeing the wedding shot! Lil’ Parker in the background! The necklace reference (even in the wedding photo!). And of course, the reference to the beginning of the book with the listing of her previous boyfriends. ^_^ I don’t want this to end, but I love how you’re ending it. ^_^

Gonna be sad when this is over… great read, great run, and I can’t wait for the short stories and everything that comes after.
I’m unfortunately too broke to say I’d be interested in pre-ordering and actually follow through with it, but best of luck with pre-orders and making this a huge success! Everyone who’s followed this only knows you guys more than deserve it.

I can see where you’re coming from with the ‘A month later’ sort of thing. Bobby did mention it a few times on previous pages (Not the comic pages, but on the webpages) that months would be passing, but sometimes things can be easy to miss. Keep in mind though that if it’s going to be a film adaptation, the only thing they could really do is to put huge, while words in front of the background saying “SIX MONTHS LATER…” which… well, it’s kind of silly.

That one was my idea actually, planned from before I even wrote Page 1, which is why I had that line in Page 2, knowing this was coming. But Eisu did come up with Stasia wearing Guy’s necklace, and I didn’t even notice that it was on her in the wedding photo too until someone in the comments pointed it out. I really like that.
Here’s the description for Panel 3 of Page 1 –

Panel 3: Focus on Janny here, with Stasia down in the corner of the panel, looking grumpy. Janny should be holding up three fingers and looking happy (she’s stopped applying makeup for the moment). Also, Janny’s outfit (maternity clothes) should be distinctive in some clear way, because we’re going to see it again later in the story and it should be recognizable as being the same one.

1) YAY! Guy DID shave for his wedding, like I knew he should. And he looks good, like I knew he would. (Even under the scruff, you could see he had a nice, handsome jawline.)
2) Janny looks hot with her hair down. And not pregnant.
3) I’m gonna guess that this is about 1-2 years later, because baby Parker has gotten big enough for a high chair.

There’s nothing that says you can’t skip 91 through 99 and go directly to 100.
Though, I’d love to see 88.5, the wedding page.

Hmm, it looks like Stasia has a costume jewelery or custom jewelry in her hair. Given the women villages, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the latter. And little Parker doesn’t look so little. And Anna has a ring. (And for the, “Why no “six months” later question, Parker is more than that, as is Anna, for that matter.)
Now that we’ve had all four of the spoiler people speak, there’s just the last one… anticipation. I’m thinking concert, but that could be too easy. And if she sings her hit song, “Marry Me”, Janny or Parker or Guy probably made sure everyone has a sign on their seat to hold up.
Though that could be strange for Mr. Tyler. (I hope he’s happy, at least. He should be.) And is Parker still wearing Anna’s pants?
(And is she with Harmony? *grin*) And there’s Denny, though he was in the last panel…

This strip really feels like a happy ending. It is only on my second reading of this page when I noticed there’s something different about Stacia too. :O This comic may not be so innocent after all!

Wow, I totally should’ve seen this coming, but it’s a nice twist. And Janny’s sorta wrong. Stasia could see “Divorce Him, Marry Me” or “Marry Me Too” signs. Also, I agree with the other comments about Janny. Pregnant or not, she is a total babe.
To Bobby and Eisu, thanks. You led me on a wonderful emotional rollercoaster and even though I am sad that the comic’s main run is almost over, I know that you each have other comics that have suffered to get Marry Me done by deadline. Again, thanks.

I really like this comic, but imo this ending is a little bit rushed. A wedding with danny appearing again wouldve been nice. an explanation to the viewer what exactly stasia’s challenges for guy were… well, I still like it very much just missin something - but there is 1 panel to go

I have to say, I love the character development of your characters. Especially Stasia, which you showed has completely done a 180 in attitude from the first five panels of the comic with her scene on this page. I also love the change in Christian as well. I think the coming full circle was a really important choice that you took (and of course was premeditated). I can see how you decided to cut some of the pages since it would have probably just made a few of these scenes just longer. I have to say though, your script was never really predictable and you included so many wonderful details. Thanks for sharing this movie script with us in comic form, it was a wonderful read. I can’t wait to see it on the big screen someday.

Hey so.. this would be a very bad movie. there is hardly any conflict whatsoever, especially between Stasia and Guy. If u are gonna make a romance interesting, u need there to be some sort of tension between them. Otherwise its like a roller coaster with no drops. this comic is just a flat rollercoaster, which is really more like a train. This is a train with only one stop and you just ride it all around before getting back out and being like “huh. ok.”

I’m the kind of person who would fit right in with Last Blood and anything else involving death/gore/and basically exessive violence. So take it as a point when I say this comic blows Last Blood (and others) away.
Also, what many people leave out… Crazy big cudos to Remy (you stole my name!), wonderful job turning those lovely ms paint sketches into great works of art.

Wow, This page is great guys. It really does bring every thing full circle, with the wedding picture and the perfect mirror to the begining of the comic. It really the perfect setup for the last scene. All we really need now is to find out that this is Stasia’s “Cure for Cancer” tour, that the baby is named Rebecca, and to see Parker with her new lesbian girlfriend because Parker derves happiness too. Of course we could always see Parker holding up a “Marry Me, Janny” sign.

Yay! I noticed the maternity clothes and similar lines without having to go back. I also think it’s really obvious that a lot of time has passed, mostly because lil’ Parker is there and looks to be around 3 years old. By the way, we already know that it’s a boy; that was mentioned a few times a few pages back. The pin in Stasia’s hair just looks like a “Stasia-brand” hair-pin, but of course the necklace is from the tribe lady. I don’t see any ring on Janny’s hands….

I love this comic so much. The characters are so fun and Crosby has a brilliant way of writing. I love the range of subtlety and straight-forwardness through the flow of plot.

It’s a pity this last part has gone by so fast (not update-wise, plot-wise), but, it does make for a good movie script. When’s it coming out/what’re the plans for it? I like this page much better than the previous one. I also like the total change in Stasia - the scene in the first few pages she’s grumpy/unhappy, and here she looks happy and content. Also, on this page, Janny reminds me of big Parker (body/hair/pose/etc.).
I need to get my butt in shape so I can audition for the part of Guy when the movie starts filming. I got the scruffy look down to a science!

I found this few days ago and I have truly enjoyed it! It was a nice story with nice/ lovable characters and I can’t wait to see how the story finishes but at the same time I am sorry to see it end! The art-work is great, as is the writing and I hope to see more from you and your crew!

Addendum to last:
@Bobby: People keep acting like the movie, err book, is over because each page is a slightly better end point than the last. Page 88 ended with a perfect line to end a movie suddenly. Page 89 would not have been so good, but this page is even better. Now, there is still plenty of space to drag it out another page and get even more good stuff, but if you ended it right now, very few people would form mobs with torches and pitchforks.

Definately one of the better webcomics, along with No Pink Ponies. I would love to purchase the graphic novel, but I would have to do it online. I hope that option will be available…character development is great on both strips; I really look forward to more No Pink Ponies and Marry Me!

I’ve been reading since the beginning this is my first comment though, and I agree that Pander and them are equally as entertaining. I keep hoping that Jon will get some soon, or maybe his fantasies will pan out. SO from a long time lurker to a first time poster just wanted to say that I’m so glad that y’all are going to continue with short stories about the characters. Just sad it has to end it was cute though, great work by the way.

I have read this comic almost from the beginning, don’t know how I stumbled over it, but I’ve enjoyed every minute. I prefer stories with a beginning and an end, not thing that go on for years and years.
Though if Marry Me were to go on for years and years … who’d complain?

Actually, Janny has shorter hair, if you see Janny’s hair in pages 62 and 82, you can see that Janny has long hair if she lets it down… here, she’s letting it down, but it just goes up to her shoulder

Silly people who worry about “he was never just my Boyfriend”
A) Thought she was married to him from almost the moment they met
B) He proposed before they ever had a “date”
so he went from friend of a fan to possible husband to fiance to husband
and to the person who said this would make a terrible movie:Boo to you! it has suspense, running away from dad, are they really married? will they get married? Now we see that they did and are.. I have seen movies with far less plot do just fine at the theater, and can only think that this as a movie would do far better.

It actually looks like no one has explicitly put these two ideas together yet, which is somewhat unexpected, so I’ll just come right out and say it: Parker in the audience with a “MARRY ME TOO!” sign. I think if you have to go out on a gag, that would be a good one.
Or another reversal- maybe Guy running off but giving Parker a sign to hold up that says “Thank You” (whether that’s directed to Stasia or cunningly to Parker for causing this whole thing) or “I Love You, Honey”?
Also, if Stasia gets to “just sing” in this concert, might we get a full song (or at least multiple lines of the same one) out of the deal?

I’m liking the way this is ending! I would totally see this movie.
I also like the change in Stasia, though whether this is just a change in art style I don’t know–she started out looking very young and childish, and, though this is a while later, she definitely started looking more grown-up as the comic progressed.
Looking forward to the end and short stories.

Most of the plot threads seem to be wrapped up in these last two pages: Guy and Ana got married; Guy got a talk show; Ana’s pregnant (sorry, Natasha, but it’s a thread that’s been dangling for 88 pages)…
So the big unanswered question, to be answered in about four hours: What have Bobby and Eisu come up with to top this all off?
